"reviewBody": "I wanted to take the time to write this review of Barleylands to ensure people are aware of the downfalls of this preschool. My child had been attending Barleylands since it opened and unfortunately, there were many issues along the way. At first, it seems like a fun and exciting setting with children being able to visit the farm.. but once you look past this, you realise the care and support provided is rather pitiful.\n\nMy child wanted to bring a birthday cake in to celebrate with their friends. This was agreed with the keyworker and other staff members were aware of this. Unfortunately, his key worker “forgot” to do his birthday cake and instead left them in the staff room and were found the following day even though the cake was meant to have been “cut up and sent home” with the other children. The deputy manager was apologetic and did his cake the following day and assured me that staff members involved were spoken with to ensure this wouldn’t happen again.\n\nFast forward to now… we left Barleylands as we moved further afield and decided to send my child to a new preschool. Again, he took a cake in to celebrate his last day with his friends. Can you imagine my shock and frustration when I picked my child up from preschool to find that AGAIN, they failed to share out his cake as they had “forgot” again. My child was so upset that he wasn’t able to share his cake with his friends that he was leaving and cried the car ride home. It completely ruined his last day and made him really upset. It’s such a simple act that can really make a big impact to a child.\n\nWhen speaking to one of the staff members about this issue, she simply replied that the other staff members aren’t mothers and she was the only mother there and understands how upsetting it is. The deputy manager seemed shocked this happened AGAIN and stated that she would investigate the matter fully. After phones calls and very professional emails from the deputy manager filled with lots of professional smiley emojis 😊😊😊, the investigation was concluded with an apology, an excuse that there had been poor communication between staff members and informed that appropriate action had been taken with staff members (but unable to disclose due to confidentiality issues) and that police’s and procedures had been implemented to ensure this didn’t happen again to other children. Such a shame that it took this incident to happen to the same child TWICE, for the preschool to take action. They also forgot it was my child’s last day (despite me speaking to numerous staff members leading up to the day and ON the day) and never gave him his leaving present which they simply just posted to him. They offered for him to go back for a day to have a re-do but my child’s understandably had no desire to return. It just shows a clear lack of care, empathy and understanding.\n\nIn addition to this, Barleylands used to provide weekly updates about what your child had been up too and was learning. This quickly faded out and the last update I received via the app was early June (2.5 months ago). Face to face updates simply include “we went to the farm today and saw xyz, they ate xyz today”. Very informative I must say!\n\nI would be very cautious in sending your child here. If staff cannot complete a simple task of cutting a cake, it makes you wonder what else they are capable of forgetting. I would want my child to attend to a nursery/preschool setting where they feel cared for, included and supported. This certainly wasn’t the case with Barleylands. I was very upset at the thought of moving preschools as he had made a lot of friends but it was a blessing in disguise and he is really flourishing in his new preschool in just a short amount of weeks, thankfully. He is learning new skills already through free-flow and structured learning. again, structured learning was something I feel is lacking from Barleylands.\n\nSo please do be cautious when considering this setting. Select a nursery/preschool where your child would be cared for, supported and celebrated.",

I wanted to take the time to write this review of Barleylands to ensure people are aware of the downfalls of this preschool. My child had been attending Barleylands since it opened and unfortunately, there were many issues along the way. At first, it seems like a fun and exciting setting with children being able to visit the farm.. but once you look past this, you realise the care and support provided is rather pitiful. My child wanted to bring a birthday cake in to celebrate with their friends. This was agreed with the keyworker and other staff members were aware of this. Unfortunately, his key worker “forgot” to do his birthday cake and instead left them in the staff room and were found the following day even though the cake was meant to have been “cut up and sent home” with the other children. The deputy manager was apologetic and did his cake the following day and assured me that staff members involved were spoken with to ensure this wouldn’t happen again. Fast forward to now… we left Barleylands as we moved further afield and decided to send my child to a new preschool. It’s such a simple act that can really make a big impact to a child. When speaking to one of the staff members about this issue, she simply replied that the other staff members aren’t mothers and she was the only mother there and understands how upsetting it is. It just shows a clear lack of care, empathy and understanding. In addition to this, Barleylands used to provide weekly updates about what your child had been up too and was learning. This quickly faded out and the last update I received via the app was early June (2.5 months ago). Face to face updates simply include “we went to the farm today and saw xyz, they ate xyz today”. Very informative I must say! I would be very cautious in sending your child here. He is learning new skills already through free-flow and structured learning. again, structured learning was something I feel is lacking from Barleylands. So please do be cautious when considering this setting. Select a nursery/preschool where your child would be cared for, supported and celebrated.

Our daughter has flourished since joining Barleylands—she absolutely loves attending, bonding with the staff, and playing with the other babies. The mix of social interaction, stimulating activities, and exciting farm trips has been fantastic and brings her endless joy.
