"reviewBody": "Since starting nursery in April 2025, I cannot overstate how pleased we are to have been welcomed into the Bee’s Knees family.\n\nOur child has made incredible progress, growing into a confident toddler. Every single one of their needs has been met and exceeded by all the staff at nursery and as parents we feel extremely comfortable knowing that they are being given the best care every day.\n\nNothing is too much trouble for the staff who give the children so many different experiences and activities to enjoy including Dots and Tots sessions and trips into the local community to the park. The mix of focused group work (targeted to particular needs and interests) and whole nursery play gives our child the opportunity to make close friends and build relationships with children of a range of ages.\n\nAs a family, we have loved opportunities to come into nursery for Stay and Play sessions and grandparent reading sessions. We have always felt very safe at Bee’s Knees.\n\nWe get regular updates about general happenings and daily activities via text messages, emails and calls. Updates on social media brighten our days to see what our child has been up to that day and the parenting posts support us as new parents too. Their daily book is always completed and provides us an insight into their day at nursery as well as regular long term progress reports which inform us about their development and next steps.\n\nAbove all, we could not be happier with our nursery, the staff who work there and the joy and care that our child receives each day.",

The staff truly understand his individual needs and always take the time to support whatever he is interested in at the moment, which means so much to me as a parent. He has built up really special bonds with staff. They keep me updated throughout the day on how he is doing, giving me complete peace of mind and making me feel very involved in his day with pictures ect. I also really appreciate the great variety of nutritious food they offer, knowing he is eating well while he’s there. Most importantly, he thoroughly enjoys going to Bees Knees, and seeing how happy and comfortable he is there reassures me that we made the perfect choice.",

"reviewBody": "Bee’s Knees have been more than we could have ever asked for our daughter.\n\nWe came to Bee’s Knees with a lot of trepidation, as we had such bad experiences in previous settings. Our daughter was unsettled and never enjoyed going to nurseries or childminders. We came to Louise asking for an urgent place and, from the start, she was supportive, alleviated our fears, and validated how we felt after the breakdown of previous placements.\n\nWe had become used to our daughter crying at every drop-off, and the strain this put on us all as a family really took its toll. Within just three days of starting at Bee’s Knees, she stopped crying and became excited to go to nursery — I cannot tell you the relief this gave us all.\n\nWithin a short space of time, our daughter would come home telling us about the new things she had learned. To our astonishment, after a couple of months she came home speaking and singing in German! At parents’ evenings, the staff explained how they plan to stretch her academically. They focus on preparing her for school while meeting her individual needs. She is always coming home singing a new song or telling me what she has been doing. I’ve noticed that my daughter is doing things my son didn’t start doing until he began school.\n\nBefore Bee’s Knees, I thought nursery was mainly about children being happy, safe, and having fun. Bee’s Knees go far beyond that, and I now see how important early education is. I know that when my daughter starts school, she will be ready.\n\nThe staff are extremely conscientious and clearly know their stuff. I genuinely have no worries about leaving my daughter in their care. They always keep us updated on how the children are doing — whether via Instagram during the day, at evening handover, at parents’ evenings, or through direct contact if there is ever anything to discuss.\n\nOne of my favourite things about the nursery is how much the staff appear to enjoy their jobs. They genuinely love working at Bee’s Knees, and this fills me with so much confidence. They have strong bonds with all the children, and I know my daughter adores the staff — and the feeling is mutual. They have built such wonderful relationships with her.\n\nI also love the varied activities they do, such as trips to the library, walks, and visits to the park. I love that the children learn about different cultures and religions, and that they even have friends in Austria!\n\nAnother thing I love is that my daughter knows all the staff and all the other children — and they all know her. It is such a warm, friendly, and nurturing environment.\n\nI could go on and on about how much I love Bee’s Knees. After the experience we’ve had, I will be forever grateful to them. I’m actually glad my daughter is an October baby so she gets to stay with them longer before starting school. I now know what a nursery should look like — a place where your child is encouraged to thrive and grow, not just somewhere they go while you’re at work and you hope they stay safe and enjoy it. Bee’s Knees truly go above and beyond for every child.",

From starting in the Shoots room to confidently moving on to the Preschool room, the growth we’ve seen in him has been amazing. The nursery staff have met every expectation and truly gone above and beyond in supporting him, helping him to grow in confidence and feel safe, happy, and secure. PJ has become so much more independent in many aspects of his day-to-day routines, and it’s been wonderful to watch his personality blossom. We’re so grateful for the care, patience, and encouragement he’s received — it’s made such a positive difference to his development and happiness.\nKind regards\nRachel Moran and Phillip Palmer",

## About this day nursery

Bee's Knees Nursery and Pre-School, established in 2024 and operating year-round in Manchester, M24 2QA, offers a nurturing "Childcare on non-domestic premises" setting for children aged 0-4. The nursery distinguishes itself with a strong commitment to inclusive care, collaborating closely with families and external agencies to fully support all children, especially those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

Early identification of needs is a key strength, with personalised target plans and small-group sessions tailored to individual requirements. Children learning English as an additional language (EAL) receive comprehensive support, including a unique pen pal programme with a German childcare setting and the incorporation of words and reading materials from their home languages.

The environment fosters a sense of safety and security, where children develop warm relationships with their key persons and confidently engage in a stimulating curriculum, including ample outdoor play opportunities. The setting is committed to continuous improvement, with plans to further enhance its outdoor learning spaces and mathematical curriculum for younger children, ensuring a consistently high standard of care and development for every child.

Our ethos

All of my experiences of working with babies and children have secured my understanding of balance and fluidity between play and learning. Play is learning for children- it is how they get to know their world. Whilst it is our job to teach your children skills such as: how to correctly hold a pencil, count confidently and access written print and follow stories, it is also our job to foster curiosity, ignite imagination and ensure risks can be taken in a safe environment. Here at Bee's Knees, our tailor made curriculum offers learning through many different avenues – we understand that no child is the same, so no child will learn in the same way. We are keen to know your child's interests so we can adapt our teaching to their learning. Having worked with children who had English as an additional language, I know how important good communication is and have embedded this into my teaching methods. This is why here at Bee's Knees, language and communication are a fundamental part of our philosophy for teaching and learning. Our mission is to not only achieve good communication in English but to strengthen this with teaching your children a basic level of German. German will be taught via songs, counting, vocabulary games and so on. There are so many positive outcomes from teaching and learning another language at a young age. The brain has maximum mental plasticity in the young, and so there is a real window of opportunity in this age group. The old adage of “use it or lose it” does apply, as over time children’s minds progressively become less suited to new language learning and lose the flexibility that they had when they were young. As well as language benefits, there are benefits to children's overall cognition, particularly their ability to problem-solve and multi-task, and their social skills. Of course, there are many cultural advantages to speaking more than one language; seeing the world through a second culture which is only truly possible through speaking a different language helps broaden our perspectives and opportunities.

Since starting nursery in April 2025, I cannot overstate how pleased we are to have been welcomed into the Bee’s Knees family. Our child has made incredible progress, growing into a confident toddler. Every single one of their needs has been met and exceeded by all the staff at nursery and as parents we feel extremely comfortable knowing that they are being given the best care every day. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who give the children so many different experiences and activities to enjoy including Dots and Tots sessions and trips into the local community to the park. The mix of focused group work (targeted to particular needs and interests) and whole nursery play gives our child the opportunity to make close friends and build relationships with children of a range of ages. As a family, we have loved opportunities to come into nursery for Stay and Play sessions and grandparent reading sessions. We have always felt very safe at Bee’s Knees. We get regular updates about general happenings and daily activities via text messages, emails and calls. Updates on social media brighten our days to see what our child has been up to that day and the parenting posts support us as new parents too. Their daily book is always completed and provides us an insight into their day at nursery as well as regular long term progress reports which inform us about their development and next steps. Above all, we could not be happier with our nursery, the staff who work there and the joy and care that our child receives each day.

My son has been going to Bees Knees now since it opened on day 1, from being about 6 months old. We love Bees Knees, and couldn’t be happier with the care they provide. Most importantly, he thoroughly enjoys going to Bees Knees, and seeing how happy and comfortable he is there reassures me that we made the perfect choice.

Bee’s Knees have been more than we could have ever asked for our daughter. We came to Bee’s Knees with a lot of trepidation, as we had such bad experiences in previous settings. Our daughter was unsettled and never enjoyed going to nurseries or childminders. We came to Louise asking for an urgent place and, from the start, she was supportive, alleviated our fears, and validated how we felt after the breakdown of previous placements. We had become used to our daughter crying at every drop-off, and the strain this put on us all as a family really took its toll. Within just three days of starting at Bee’s Knees, she stopped crying and became excited to go to nursery — I cannot tell you the relief this gave us all. Within a short space of time, our daughter would come home telling us about the new things she had learned. To our astonishment, after a couple of months she came home speaking and singing in German! At parents’ evenings, the staff explained how they plan to stretch her academically. They focus on preparing her for school while meeting her individual needs. She is always coming home singing a new song or telling me what she has been doing. I’ve noticed that my daughter is doing things my son didn’t start doing until he began school. Before Bee’s Knees, I thought nursery was mainly about children being happy, safe, and having fun. Bee’s Knees go far beyond that, and I now see how important early education is. I know that when my daughter starts school, she will be ready. The staff are extremely conscientious and clearly know their stuff. I genuinely have no worries about leaving my daughter in their care. They always keep us updated on how the children are doing — whether via Instagram during the day, at evening handover, at parents’ evenings, or through direct contact if there is ever anything to discuss. One of my favourite things about the nursery is how much the staff appear to enjoy their jobs. They genuinely love working at Bee’s Knees, and this fills me with so much confidence. They have strong bonds with all the children, and I know my daughter adores the staff — and the feeling is mutual. They have built such wonderful relationships with her. I also love the varied activities they do, such as trips to the library, walks, and visits to the park. I love that the children learn about different cultures and religions, and that they even have friends in Austria! Another thing I love is that my daughter knows all the staff and all the other children — and they all know her. It is such a warm, friendly, and nurturing environment. I could go on and on about how much I love Bee’s Knees. Bee’s Knees truly go above and beyond for every child.

I just wanted to share how incredibly proud we are of how much PJ has thrived at Bees Knees Nursery. We’re so grateful for the care, patience, and encouragement he’s received — it’s made such a positive difference to his development and happiness. Kind regards Rachel Moran and Phillip Palmer
