I would be called by Rachel every time he was in after just an hour each day due to a “no crying policy” which again I was told by Rachel the policy is in place as it’s not fair to let the children cry, after his first hour I was called and asked to change my days but we had already agreed to those days 3 months earlier and I had made arrangements around our agreement, we arranged to do half days to ease him in but still they would call after an hour, when I would pick him up he would be fine and then he would get upset as he’s being taken away from to play area to go home as “he’s really upset” and needs to be picked up, they didn’t give my child a chance at all, and expected me to pay for lunch dinner and snacks although he was only there an hour each day and hadn’t eaten anything while being there. They would also call me to pick him up and when I would get there they would say there’s people tested positive for covid and nursery will be shut and I would be contacted as to when my child would be back at nursery which they never did I had to contact them the day before he was supposed to be in and they then told me he was fine to go in, I find this completely disgusting that my child was treat like this, he has been in his new nursery for a week now and is ready to start his full day tomorrow with no problems whatsoever. Also I have proof screenshots of phone calls after only an hour each day. Areas to develop - 1 The provider has not continued to meet the requirements of the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage'. They failed to notify Ofsted of required information. Changes to the committee members were not reported. As a result, some committee members have not had their suitability checked, as is required. However, there is minimal impact on children's safety, as they do not have any unsupervised contact with children. - 2 The curriculum for developing children's independence and self-help skills is not consistently implemented. Staff do not allow children the time and freedom to try and do simple tasks for themselves. For instance, some staff wash children's hands, pour their water and put their shoes on. This limits children's opportunities to practise and develop vital skills ready for their move to school. - 3 Staff do not consistently implement effective strategies to support children's communication and language development. They do not emphasise key words or introduce new words to support the breadth of children's vocabulary. This impacts on children's ability to communicate. The communication and language curriculum is not yet good. - 4 Staff do not consistently support children's interactions. They fail to intervene, during free play, when children throw toys and grab at others. Staff do not teach children why the behaviour is unacceptable and the expectations at nursery. This impacts on children's engagement in learning. - 5 Parent partnerships are in place. Parents value the staff team and feel comfortable to approach them if needed. Leaders seek information when children start, but this lacks detail. Staff share information with parents about activities and care practices. However, parents are not always aware of what their children are learning and their next steps. Although there is a clear focus on supporting children with SEND, leaders and staff do not always act on advice and suggestions. For instance, key persons do not support children in achieving next steps, and leaders do not assist parents in obtaining additional funding as recommended.
