We wish we could give zero stars. The nursery, you accept, is small and cramped, and many of the staff are clearly not properly trained in safeguarding, despite what they claim. Senior management are unprofessional and more concerned with protecting themselves than ensuring the safety of the children.\n\nHere's what happened to us:\n\nLike any parent, you want to believe your child is in a safe, educational, and fun environment at nursery. You miss them, think about them often, and trust that the nursery is providing care while you're at work. You're paying a lot for that care, so you expect good things.\n\nOne Monday morning, I dropped my daughter off. It was a simple, easy drop-off. She was taken by the primary carer, and I went off to work feeling good that she was being cared for.\n\nLater that afternoon, I received a call. My daughter had been injured. She was complaining of pain in her ear and cheek. We called the nursery, but no one answered. We messaged them but got no response. We rushed to pick her up; she looked upset and in pain. Outside the nursery, she explained that she’d fallen over in the garden. We even recorded her saying it so we could go back inside and ask what happened.\n\nWhen we spoke to the nursery, they knew nothing about it. No one saw anything, and according to their “policy,” they wouldn’t consider this an accident as no one witnessed it. A slightly odd policy but we just wanted to go home and look after our child.\n\nThe following day, we dropped off our daughter so we could get back to work. Around lunchtime, we get a text from the nursery asking, ‘if any accidents had happened at home’ They’d noticed a ‘bruise on her bum’. Yes, they were asking us?! We told them, perhaps it was the accident from yesterday? Our daughter had only been in their care for the past two days. They didn’t know what accident we were talking about. We were utterly shocked, we had an account on video, injuries pictures. They refused to check CCTV footage and ignored the evidence we provided them.\n\nThat evening, Fennies nursery reported us to Social Services, claiming ‘suspicious bruising’. Can you even imagine? Not only that but their most heinous failure was that during their report they neglected to tell the Social Services about the injury from the day before. Suddenly, Social Services are calling us, wanting to know what was going on. We were accused, indirectly, of harming our child. When we explained the incident from the day before, Social Services staff were shocked. They closed the incident immediately and a complaint was raised against Fennies.\n\nThe following week, Fennies Staff started acting strangely, as though they had been told a different story. Strange comments and unprofessional behaviours towards us as parents.\n\nWe had done nothing wrong; we just sent our daughter to nursery.\n\nAs the inevitable Fennies investigation into this unfolded, one staff member involved in the incident left “unwillingly” – her words. Fennies, however, still admitted no wrongdoing, offered no apologies, and denied any mistakes. In one instance we caught them actively lying—claiming we had said things we never did, to cover their tracks. They mishandled our personal data, and we have reported them to the ICO, OFSTED, and the local authority.\n\nThe trauma Fennies caused us is hard to put into words. After pulling our daughter out of the Fennies nursery, she has been so much happier. At the new nursery, she plays in open spaces, she absolutely loves her new nursery. You know what else? Our child doesn’t seem to be sick every single week with colds anymore either.\n\nWe never realised how bad Fennies was until we made the switch. We genuinely are so much happier as a family.\n\nP.S.
