The nursery places a strong emphasis on communication and language, with children confidently chatting to staff and engaging in pleasant conversations over mealtimes. The setting encourages critical thinking skills, for example, by prompting children to make predictions about seeds they find in an apple core. The inspiring and sequenced curriculum builds upon children's existing knowledge, supporting their progress. Dedicated support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is provided by a well-trained SENCo, who works with other professionals for early identification and assistance. Individual target plans are created for all children with SEND, and a designated sensory room offers daily one-to-one time with the SENCo. Children make regular trips into the local community, visiting parks to develop physical skills by chasing bubbles, and going to the post office to mail letters they have written. These real-life experiences strengthen their knowledge, develop early writing skills, and are topics children discuss at home with their parents.
