Children are happy and settle quickly, with staff providing engaging activities that help them feel secure. The pre-school encourages independent choices in play, both indoors and outdoors, and children demonstrate good behaviour and enjoy physical activity. The setting was rated as Good by Ofsted on its latest inspection on 10th June 2021. The management team at Hatherleigh Pre-School is committed to continuous improvement, regularly reflecting on their practice and holding supervision meetings with staff to enhance children's development. Staff actively support children in managing their emotions, with a newly developed garden area providing a space for children to express their feelings, such as finding joy in the flowers. The pre-school has effective partnerships with parents, providing daily updates and "to and fro" books, as well as targeted care plans for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These plans offer parents information on how to support their child's individual needs, and staff work diligently to improve communication and social skills.
