"reviewBody": "I’ve visited the nursery three times now—mainly the baby room, but I’ve also spent time in the toddler room and spoken with several staff members, including Carl, the manager. Everyone has been really friendly and approachable.\n\nWhile two of my visits didn’t have children present, this is simply because the nursery is still new to the area and in the process of building its reputation after taking over from the previous setting. That might put some people off, but everyone has to start somewhere, and from what I’ve seen, the team is committed to creating a high-quality nursery, much like their well-reviewed sister site on Great Park Road.\n\nThe quieter start is also understandable given the location—it’s not in the most convenient spot for commuting parents, as many people travel out of Bradley Stoke for work and prefer nurseries closer to main routes.\n\nTaking all of that into account, I’ve been really impressed with the staff, and I’m excited for my little boy to join in September. I’m sure by then it will be full of little ones, learning, playing, and causing mischief!",

As a child with special educational needs, we were naturally anxious, but Carl and the team have gone above and beyond to make the transition smooth and positive.\n\nCommunication has been exceptional - we're always kept in the loop and feel truly supported. The setting itself is warm and welcoming.\n\nWhat could have been a daunting experience has been made straight forward and reassuring thanks to the dedication of the team. We are so grateful to have found such a wonderful place for our daughter to thrive.",

"reviewBody": "This review is regarding a tour of the nursery a week ago, not of having a child there. I wanted to write one though as there are no recent ones.\n\nAvoid. Had to jump through so many hoops even just to book a 'tour'.. was not able to book it through the nursery directly but had to do it via their centralised 'parent engagement' team, so ended up calling them a few times, missing their calls a few times, eventually managed to book it via SMS... so unneccessary.\nOn the day I turned up with my two year old only to find the nursery completely closed, with no-one answering the bell, no note or SMS to say where they were. Managed to get through to the manager who said he was in the 'other building' with the children who are currently together due to not enough staff or children yet to make it worth opening both buildings. I didn't know there were two buildings, and I still don't know where the second one is.\nWhile waiting for him to turn up, I saw broken glass right outside the nursery, a massive health and safety issue when children are going to and from another building and for drop-offs and pick-ups.\nHe showed my son and I the toddler nursery room, which had lots of fun things in it, a sandpit, diggers, lots of fun stuff. It was great with just my son in but it was cluttered and I can imagine how quickly it gets messy with a full cohort of toddlers in.\nI was quickly told that the minimum amount of sessions was four a week - four mornings/afternoons or two whole days - although exceptions might be able to be made - but this hadn't been communicated to me prior.\nI was told the focus at the nursery is on the 'finished product', working towards getting children 'school ready'...\nI was told the lack of chairs in the room apart from at meal times is because children should be active 85 percent of the day. Anyone who spends even a minimum amount of time with toddlers knows that toddlers don't sit down unless they want to. And if they want to sit down, then they will sit on the floor.\nNext, I was asked if I wanted to see the children and staff in the other building, and asked if I had ID. I didn't, and I hadn't been told I needed it. I was then told we couldn't go there because I didn't have ID as there were children there... The main reason for looking round a nursery really is to get a sense of how it is for children and staff already there and how my child might fit in.\nI was then told that the registration fee is £150 - with none of that being a deposit against the first month's fee. A staggering amount compared to other nurseries in the area (most charge £100 with £50 of that going to the first month's fee).\nAt that point I was so frustrated and it seemed clear that the nursery is about making profit with their 'products' rather than being child-centred. And with the lack of communication with me as a prospective parent at a new nursery, I can't imagine how bad the communication is with fee-paying parents.",

"reviewBody": "Reading the reviews I really can’t understand the negativity\nAll three of my children have attended this nursery from small babies and I cannot recommend them enough the manager and staff cannot do enough to help children and parents. The families that attend are from multi cultural backgrounds and this is expressed through lots of fun learning activities, my children all thrived here. Nothing is too much trouble for them, bills and accounts are dealt with in the head office and nothing to do with management at the nursery but when I have had issues the manger did her best to get things sorted out. I suggest you leave your negativity, especially if you have not had first hand experience of this outstanding Nursery and Pre-school",

## What parents say

Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection

> Parents report that this enthusiasm continues at home, especially during bedtime reading.

Inclusion & environment

## How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), receive attentive support from staff. However, in some cases, tailored strategies and visual supports are lacking, limiting opportunities to fully enhance communication and engagement to develop children's learning further.

Outdoor space

Children enjoy daily access to a well-planned outdoor environment. For example, very young children scoop sand into different containers and toddle around the garden. Older children use stepping stones, set at different heights and distances from each other to develop their gross motor skills and coordination.

I’ve visited the nursery three times now—mainly the baby room, but I’ve also spent time in the toddler room and spoken with several staff members, including Carl, the manager. Everyone has been really friendly and approachable. While two of my visits didn’t have children present, this is simply because the nursery is still new to the area and in the process of building its reputation after taking over from the previous setting. That might put some people off, but everyone has to start somewhere, and from what I’ve seen, the team is committed to creating a high-quality nursery, much like their well-reviewed sister site on Great Park Road. The quieter start is also understandable given the location—it’s not in the most convenient spot for commuting parents, as many people travel out of Bradley Stoke for work and prefer nurseries closer to main routes. Taking all of that into account, I’ve been really impressed with the staff, and I’m excited for my little boy to join in September. I’m sure by then it will be full of little ones, learning, playing, and causing mischief!

Our daughter started at Webbs Wood Road in March and we couldn't be happier with the care and support she's received. As a child with special educational needs, we were naturally anxious, but Carl and the team have gone above and beyond to make the transition smooth and positive. Communication has been exceptional - we're always kept in the loop and feel truly supported. The setting itself is warm and welcoming. What could have been a daunting experience has been made straight forward and reassuring thanks to the dedication of the team. We are so grateful to have found such a wonderful place for our daughter to thrive.

This review is regarding a tour of the nursery a week ago, not of having a child there. I wanted to write one though as there are no recent ones. Avoid. Had to jump through so many hoops even just to book a 'tour'.. was not able to book it through the nursery directly but had to do it via their centralised 'parent engagement' team, so ended up calling them a few times, missing their calls a few times, eventually managed to book it via SMS... so unneccessary. On the day I turned up with my two year old only to find the nursery completely closed, with no-one answering the bell, no note or SMS to say where they were. Managed to get through to the manager who said he was in the 'other building' with the children who are currently together due to not enough staff or children yet to make it worth opening both buildings. I didn't know there were two buildings, and I still don't know where the second one is. While waiting for him to turn up, I saw broken glass right outside the nursery, a massive health and safety issue when children are going to and from another building and for drop-offs and pick-ups. He showed my son and I the toddler nursery room, which had lots of fun things in it, a sandpit, diggers, lots of fun stuff. It was great with just my son in but it was cluttered and I can imagine how quickly it gets messy with a full cohort of toddlers in. I was quickly told that the minimum amount of sessions was four a week - four mornings/afternoons or two whole days - although exceptions might be able to be made - but this hadn't been communicated to me prior. I was told the focus at the nursery is on the 'finished product', working towards getting children 'school ready'... I was told the lack of chairs in the room apart from at meal times is because children should be active 85 percent of the day. Anyone who spends even a minimum amount of time with toddlers knows that toddlers don't sit down unless they want to. And if they want to sit down, then they will sit on the floor. Next, I was asked if I wanted to see the children and staff in the other building, and asked if I had ID. I didn't, and I hadn't been told I needed it. I was then told we couldn't go there because I didn't have ID as there were children there... The main reason for looking round a nursery really is to get a sense of how it is for children and staff already there and how my child might fit in. I was then told that the registration fee is £150 - with none of that being a deposit against the first month's fee. A staggering amount compared to other nurseries in the area (most charge £100 with £50 of that going to the first month's fee). At that point I was so frustrated and it seemed clear that the nursery is about making profit with their 'products' rather than being child-centred. And with the lack of communication with me as a prospective parent at a new nursery, I can't imagine how bad the communication is with fee-paying parents.

Reading the reviews I really can’t understand the negativity All three of my children have attended this nursery from small babies and I cannot recommend them enough the manager and staff cannot do enough to help children and parents. I suggest you leave your negativity, especially if you have not had first hand experience of this outstanding Nursery and Pre-school

The staff at Mama Bear's have been amazing. Both my daughters have flourished since going there. Emma is very friendly and helpful, and goes out of her way to make sure my daughter's needs are met.
