## About this day nursery

Leap Ahead @ Southfield, situated in the heart of Brigg, became part of the Leap Ahead Nurseries group in 2020. Following a comprehensive renovation, this nursery now caters to children from birth to five years old, featuring a dedicated 'Nurturing Unit' located upstairs.

The nursery is an integral part of the local community, offering limited parking for customers at the rear of the property. It operates consistently from Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, all year round.

Leap Ahead @ Southfield places a strong emphasis on child-led learning within a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. The philosophy encourages children to explore, develop their own ideas, and foster their innate curiosity, preparing them not just for the next step in their education but for life itself.

The educators strive to create inspiring play spaces using quality toys, natural materials, and authentic resources, aligning with the EYFS guidance to support development across all seven areas of learning. Individual progress is closely monitored, and parents are actively encouraged to participate in their children's learning journey.

We will strive to create beautiful, inspirational play spaces for children in order to feed their curiosity, creativity and to spark ‘awe’ and ‘wonder’. We will endeavour to ensure that every child in our nurseries will be given the same opportunities to gain the essential knowledge to be educated citizens. We will ensure that all children’s development needs are planned for on an individual basis & that our 'Provocations to Play' will record how the educator is going support the children's next stages of their development & that our 'Invitations to Learn' will support the child’s curiosity or entice the children to further exploration and investigation. Our parents will be made to feel welcome to engage in their children’s learning at any opportunity. Our Impact In order to monitor the impact of our children’s Early Years Education we will observe our happy, confident & inquisitive learners as well as ensuring each child makes significant progress depending on their individual ability. We track a child's holistic progress termly & we will seek support, advice & guidance for any child who may require extra support with their learning with the consent & involvement of parents every step if the way. The nursery will use additional sources of monitoring in line with that if the Local Education Authority if it has been ascertained to have a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND). We work in partnership with local schools to share information about a child’s development when they are ready to move in in their next stage of education. Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection

> parents speak highly of the nursery and staff. They state that their children are keen to attend, have developed strong attachments and feel secure.

Inclusion & environment

## How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff identify where children need additional support and put appropriate plans in place. They work well with other agencies and seek additional specialist support. As a result, children with special educational needs and/or disabilities make good progress.

Outdoor space

Staff recognise that children enjoy outdoor learning and allow plenty of uninterrupted time for children to play and learn outside. The large, well-equipped garden provides all children with many opportunities to read, play and learn. Older children are well supported to begin to develop their large-muscle skills, as they access a range of climbing apparatus. Children are self-motivated and fully explore the whole nursery.
