Awarded a 'Good' rating by Ofsted on its latest inspection on 7th March 2024, Linden Playgroup provides a stimulating environment where children are motivated and independent learners. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to build on children's existing knowledge and experiences, offering challenges that deepen their understanding across various learning areas. Staff proficiently support children's development, including those with special educational needs (SEND), ensuring they make good progress from their individual starting points. The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) actively works with professionals to provide targeted support, fostering each child's next steps in learning. Many children attending have English as an additional language (EAL), and with most staff being bilingual, home languages are valued and used to support children in learning English. This inclusive approach is further supported by policies and procedures available in various languages, and good support for families. Children at Linden Playgroup engage in a range of activities, both indoors and outdoors. They are physically very able, enjoying challenges such as balancing on tyres and manoeuvring bicycles, which helps develop their independence and control. A love of books is encouraged, with children enjoying them alone or with staff, both inside and outside the setting. Staff effectively partner with parents, communicating regularly about children's progress and how best to support their learning journey. Staff value children's home language and provide good levels of support to further aid children in learning English. Staff support children's language by recognising and valuing children's home language and then repeating the words back to them in English to support their development. Policies and procedures are available in a variety of languages and staff provide good support for families and signpost them to additional services as needed.
