"reviewBody": "I would NOT recommend this nursery - very unprofessional, poor communication & cannot be trusted with children.\n\nMy daughter joined in September her first time starting at nursery as she just turned 2 years old. She was having trouble settling in so numerous times they would call me and ask to collect my daughter early, however this became an issue as I needed to go back to work I couldn’t keep collecting her every time she’s upset as this wasn’t practical.\n\nI tried to resolve this problem by speaking with teachers in my daughters class (Melissa) and even the nursery Manager (Clare) but I feel like no plan was made and my concerns were ignored.\n\nThere was even an occasion my daughter came home with cuts and bruises on her face and arms which they did not acknowledge or mention on pick up I had to contact them about this concern and they couldn’t explain exactly what had happened just vague responses that she could’ve sustained these marks from playing outside or possibly when she was very upset she threw herself on the floor which I thought was quite extreme as she has never physically hurt herself when upset before.\n\nAfter expressing all my concerns in a meeting with the manager and giving them another chance they failed to support my child again and continued calling me to collect her and when I asked if they had followed the plan we discussed in the meeting they responded with the opposite of what we spoke about which shows to me they do not care about a child’s needs if it does not suit their criteria.\n\nI was in the process of finding a new nursery for my daughter but it is extremely difficult to find places this time of year so I had to continue with them for the meantime but yesterday we showed up on time as usual, my daughter dressed in her Halloween outfit very excited (it is her favorite holiday) to be turned away by the manager and told my child was removed from their database on 18th October because they assumed she would not be returning even though she attended on 20th October (which they apparently had no knowledge of further shows their poor communication) with no issues they proceeded without contacting to remove my child’s place and letting us show up to be humiliated, further upset to my child and leaving me in a very stressful situation with no childcare around the most expensive time of year.\n\nThey are a disgrace to leave a vulnerable single mother just trying to do the best for her child like this I wouldn’t trust them around my daughter again.",

They are very caring and have provided tailored care to my son who took a little while to get settled into nursery. The staff took all my suggestions on board and were supportive in all aspects of my sons development, specifically weaning and soothing methods. The staff even offered solutions to help my son transition to cows milks. As if they don't do enough already, they somehow find the time to upload photos of my son frequently which is lovely to see!\nMy son always looks well looked after and is super happy to be in nursery now. Sometimes 'the village' is a good nursery.",

Safeguarding effective

What it's like to attend

Children enjoy playing and exploring alongside the caring staff team. They excitedly greet visitors and are keen to show them their artwork. Children learn how to keep themselves safe, for example, during their outdoor play, children know to place hay on the wet floor to prevent slips and trips.

Inspector highlights

- Children learn how to keep themselves safe as they play, for example, during their outdoor play, children know to place hay on the wet floor to prevent slips and trips.
- Children enjoy their time in the forest school area, making magic wands from sticks and ribbon and playing with friends.
- Staff encourage children to think of their own ideas for their play and learning, turning wands into paintbrushes and making marks using mud mixtures.
- Staff extend children's play and learning, supporting them to draw straight lines and connect them to make recognisable letters of the alphabet.
- Staff challenge children to use their thinking skills, for example, children identify that a penguin does not belong on a farm when playing with the animal toys and pretend to build a new habitat for the penguin.

Areas to develop

- 1 Leaders should strengthen staff's focus on the age-appropriate skills and knowledge that they want younger children to achieve when planning for their learning.
- 2 Leaders should review the arrangements for settling-in sessions, and enhance the strategies used by staff to further support children who are new to the nursery to feel settled.
- 3 Leaders should continue to guide and coach staff, to build on their practice and ensure that interactions with children are of a consistently high quality.

Inclusion & environment

## How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those known to, or previously known to, children's social care make progress towards their individual milestones. They build positive relationships with their key persons and generally settle well at the nursery. Staff provide one-to-one time for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) to support their learning, ensuring they continue to make progress. Leaders have invited advisers from the local authority inclusion team into the nursery to support children and staff, and they support staff to develop and review learning plans for children with SEND. Leaders have used additional SEND funding to develop a sensory room for focused support.

Outdoor space

Children receive regular opportunities to play outside in the fresh air. They enjoy their time in the forest school area, making magic wands from sticks and ribbon and having fun playing with their friends. Children learn how to keep themselves safe during outdoor play by placing hay on wet floors to prevent slips and trips.

I would NOT recommend this nursery - very unprofessional, poor communication & cannot be trusted with children. My daughter joined in September her first time starting at nursery as she just turned 2 years old. She was having trouble settling in so numerous times they would call me and ask to collect my daughter early, however this became an issue as I needed to go back to work I couldn’t keep collecting her every time she’s upset as this wasn’t practical. I tried to resolve this problem by speaking with teachers in my daughters class (Melissa) and even the nursery Manager (Clare) but I feel like no plan was made and my concerns were ignored. There was even an occasion my daughter came home with cuts and bruises on her face and arms which they did not acknowledge or mention on pick up I had to contact them about this concern and they couldn’t explain exactly what had happened just vague responses that she could’ve sustained these marks from playing outside or possibly when she was very upset she threw herself on the floor which I thought was quite extreme as she has never physically hurt herself when upset before. After expressing all my concerns in a meeting with the manager and giving them another chance they failed to support my child again and continued calling me to collect her and when I asked if they had followed the plan we discussed in the meeting they responded with the opposite of what we spoke about which shows to me they do not care about a child’s needs if it does not suit their criteria. I was in the process of finding a new nursery for my daughter but it is extremely difficult to find places this time of year so I had to continue with them for the meantime but yesterday we showed up on time as usual, my daughter dressed in her Halloween outfit very excited (it is her favorite holiday) to be turned away by the manager and told my child was removed from their database on 18th October because they assumed she would not be returning even though she attended on 20th October (which they apparently had no knowledge of further shows their poor communication) with no issues they proceeded without contacting to remove my child’s place and letting us show up to be humiliated, further upset to my child and leaving me in a very stressful situation with no childcare around the most expensive time of year. They are a disgrace to leave a vulnerable single mother just trying to do the best for her child like this I wouldn’t trust them around my daughter again.

I could not recommend this nursery enough. The 'Poppys' staff for children under 2 are absolutely brilliant. They are very caring and have provided tailored care to my son who took a little while to get settled into nursery. The staff took all my suggestions on board and were supportive in all aspects of my sons development, specifically weaning and soothing methods. The staff even offered solutions to help my son transition to cows milks. As if they don't do enough already, they somehow find the time to upload photos of my son frequently which is lovely to see! My son always looks well looked after and is super happy to be in nursery now. Sometimes 'the village' is a good nursery.

My child was at upsadaisy from before he turned 1 until pre school. I cannot express how fantastic all staff in each of the three rooms were with my child, they clearly knew him very well and designed activities based on his specific interests in order to progress his development. It is really nice to find a nursery that provides a variety of hot home cooked food twice a day. All staff are kind and caring, any concerns were quickly resolved with the child’s best interests in mind whilst listening to parent point of view. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery to family and friends.

My daughter started Upsadaisy in February, she initially found it difficult to settle, however, 4 months down the line she is absolutely thriving and thoroughly happy in Poppys class! I can’t thank the nursery enough especially Evie and the staff in Poppys room who have all been fundamental in creating a positive atmosphere for my daughter. Thank you - we are excited to see how much more you’re able to offer her as she progresses through her developmental years.

Our daughter has been attending the nursery full time since January 2022 and absolutely loves it! The care and attention the practitioners give is always of a high standard, she always comes home happy, well fed and well cared for. The nursery pay close attention to the Early Years Foundation Stage standards, providing regular updates on all elements through pictures, anecdotes and at handover times. They maintain a high ratio of adults to children, so you know your little one is going to be safe, have fun and get the attention they need to develop well.
