Our ethos

Pathways Childcare Centre offers a carefully structured programme of early years education, with staff and a facility that is highly-suited to key pre-school goals, including literacy and numeracy, achieving through both group and individual play. Pathways Childcare offers fun whilst learning to ensure that the eventual progression into primary school is accomplished happily and with confidence.

What it's like

Children receive a warm welcome and benefit from a wealth of choices that guide their own learning. Children feel safe and secure, participating in group activities and developing good self-esteem, with staff celebrating their achievements.

## Pricing & funding

Fees are calculated on an hourly basis, with before and after-school care billed in fifteen-minute intervals. Funding is accepted for eligible two, three, and four-year-olds, with any additional hours charged at an hourly rate. Fees are due monthly in advance and include all snacks and dinners.

Children receive a warm welcome and benefit from a wealth of choices that guide their own learning. Inspector highlights

-   Children settle well, with younger children developing a sense of belonging through family photos and older children discussing their families to promote a positive view of culture and diversity. 
-   Children benefit from positive interactions with staff to support their emotions, including participating in a 'mini mindfulness group' and being offered soft toys to self-regulate. 
-   Communication is woven throughout the curriculum, with staff introducing new words and asking questions to extend children's vocabulary. 
-   Children's key persons work well with other professionals to support transitions to school, promoting children's confidence and ensuring teachers receive information about their progress. 
-   Children's outcomes are enhanced by close collaboration between staff and parents, with parents receiving regular information and resources to guide learning at home. 
-   Staff benefit from regular meetings to share knowledge and objectives, and the manager monitors practice and prioritises training effectively. 
-   The setting ensured all children in the community received their education entitlement during the COVID-19 pandemic.

## How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff know children extremely well, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. They use observations and assessments to identify children's needs and plan next steps which focus on developmental gaps.

Outdoor space

Children explore the sounds the "crunchy grass" makes and move around the frozen garden in a variety of ways, pretending to be on a bear hunt. Staff conduct daily risk assessments indoors and outdoors, and teach children about the dangers of ice and how it can be slippery, keeping them safe during play.
