My youngest child has additional needs so the management and staff have worked hard to complete training to support her and ensure that she's fully included.\n\nIt's small with only two rooms but that means there is excellent attention.\n\nAfter-school careful thought is given to what the children need. For some it may having a sit down, a healthy snack and a chat about their day at school. There is plenty of outdoor space for the children to play and get fresh air, exercise and fun.\nThere are plenty of high quality toys and resources to practise and develop skills, knowledge and behaviours.",

"reviewBody": "Okay, so my review is entirely based on our experience with this nursery and two staff members who are the main core people running and managing the nursery. I know nursery work is tough, and teachers try their best to manage the kids. My child has been attending this nursery for almost four months, but not full-time nor part-time. The reason was they didn’t have enough staff, according to them, and he would hardly get 2 to 3 days with each day lasting just 1 to 2 hours maximum. The problems and issues I had with the nursery are significant, and no child should be dealt with in such an opinionated way, especially at such a delicate age. Every 2 to 3 days, I was there because they wanted to discuss something about our child. They claimed he was throwing things from shelves, pulling hair, avoiding eye contact, not engaging, and putting everything in his mouth, among other things. We are a couple at home, with him being our only child, and he started nursery at 2 years and 3 months, I believe. Now, why was this their opinion? They kept saying they wanted the best for him and would refer him to speech therapy. After all this, we, as parents, were so stressed out, feeling like there was something wrong with him, and we were very worried. After about a month, they said they had to apply for a grant due to a shortage of staff, and our son had to be present when the inspector from the nursery came to inspect. After they received the grant, there was another meeting two days after he started going to the nursery, where they advised us to go to another nursery with more resources. This was shocking, and we remained quiet, but decided to bring our child home and told them not to call us again. This nursery is Ofsted registered, and either Ofsted has no standards and just relies on funding to generate business, or there is some other objective. They have a lady who is mainly the main person after the owners, and she is quite loud. Her tone of speaking is not suitable; anyone can easily tell, especially with young kids. A nursery staff member has to be soft and polite. Secondly, our son started the habit of pulling hair the very next day after joining the nursery. The reason, I would say as a father, is that this nursery does not have any standards because they have young kids of all age groups together, which is very wrong. A kid of 2.5 years of age should be among the same age group. The approach they had was to mix a 4-year-old girl, whose brother is also attending the nursery, with the younger children. This is no way to manage a nursery. Let me emphasize that the care message they keep repeating, “we want the best for your son so that he is ready for school,” is no excuse for screaming kids at your nursery and a chaotic environment. If a child comes from a family with many people from a rough background, and you cannot handle their kids correctly so that they are not a bad influence on my child, then you should close the nursery down. My son has been attending another private nursery for the past few months, and I am so relieved. This is the best decision for my son; he is engaging with other kids, and we noticed a positive difference in him from the third day. Originally, there was nothing wrong. The teachers are calm and soft-spoken, unlike Natalie from the old nursery. My wife and I are professionals and are not like random parents who would send their kids to any nearby nursery. We made a big mistake, please do not do this to your kids. We have learned from our mistake and look forward to a bright future for our amazing kid. Do not send your child to this “2-year room jail” nursery to develop worse skills. One good example of a good kid and ten bad habits from other kids—no one should take such a risk.",

Inclusion & environment

## How they support every child

SEND provision

Children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are extremely well supported. Leaders ensure all children feel included and are proactive in seeking help for children with additional needs. Staff work effectively with other agencies to ensure families and children receive the support they need. Leaders effectively use additional funding to offer children new experiences and provide specific resources to support their development. All children make very good progress.

Outdoor space

Staff plan activities to support children's physical development effectively, with children running, jumping, and climbing outside. There are less opportunities for children to access books when outside, limiting opportunities for independent book access for those who prefer to play outdoors.

EAL / language support

Staff ensure children's communication and language development are at the centre of everything they do. Staff speak clearly and model language with children very well, introduce new words, and ask questions that encourage critical thinking. All children make good progress in their language skills.

All 3 of my daughters and 2 of my nieces have attended this nursery and after-school care club. It's actually really sad to think that my youngest will be leaving at the end of the summer term. From the very first encounter I've had such a positive experience and my children have loved it too. It was noticed when my daughters were at school that they had developed excellent habits, behaviour and attitudes to learning from being at Short Circuits. As a family run business, I've always felt that the family genuinely care about each of the children and families who are part of the nursery / after-school club. As a busy working parent, I feel reassured that not only are my children safe, they are also happy. My youngest child has additional needs so the management and staff have worked hard to complete training to support her and ensure that she's fully included. It's small with only two rooms but that means there is excellent attention. After-school careful thought is given to what the children need. For some it may having a sit down, a healthy snack and a chat about their day at school. There is plenty of outdoor space for the children to play and get fresh air, exercise and fun. There are plenty of high quality toys and resources to practise and develop skills, knowledge and behaviours.

After the previous low reviewer left that comment we were all told to put positive comments on to bump it down however, parents should not disregard what someone is saying, especially if they have nothing to gain from leaving the review. My child has blossomed since attending their new nursery. It’s calm, organised and the staff do not shout at the kids nor snatch from their hands as I witnessed here with Natalie. I wish I had made the move a lot sooner.

Short circuits is a fantastic nursery with very good staff who are always there to help when you have a concern about your child's learning or behaviour. They want the best for the children so they are ready for school. The parents and children are friendly and my child has made lots of lovely friends and always talks about the activities he has done during his time at nursery. All staff are aware of the children's needs and are very good at informing parents of events or concerns through the class dojo.

My thoughts and experiences of the staff and management at short circuit are overwhelmingly brilliant, My son looks forward to going every morning and enjoys his play activities everyday. He has bonded well with the teachers and shows his interactive ability. My son has gradually broken out of his shyness and his verbal speech and phonics has progressed immensely.

Okay, so my review is entirely based on our experience with this nursery and two staff members who are the main core people running and managing the nursery. One good example of a good kid and ten bad habits from other kids—no one should take such a risk.
