Our experience was brilliant throughout this time, and we always felt like our child was fully safe and very happy at nursery. Before starting at Smithfield, we were worried we would feel guilty about not being with him all day. This has not been an issue: we actually always felt excited about him going to Smithfield because of how much he enjoyed himself with all the inventive and fun activities and the constant care and affection from all the staff. The staff at Smithfield are more like a family. I can't explain how worried I was about settling my little one into nursery while going back to work full time. He started 3 months ago just after turning 1 and is so so happy there. Little boy loves it and loves all the practitioners. I have been so impressed by the bonds he has built up there as well as the incredible activities the girls think of every day - so creative and multiple new ideas for entertaining and educating the babies. And lots of beautiful art to bring home for the fridge :)\n\nThe nursery is vast, stretching underground at Smithfield with some clever tricks to bring daylight down and lots of trips outside with outings to parks and green spaces in the area. There is a separate sleep room with cots and mattresses for the babies as well as two enormous play areas, with multiple levels so the babies can practice stairs, a room for changing, an eating/messy play space and a sensory room. There is so much for them to explore with fantastic toys and facilities. I love that the babies' pictures are on the wall of their room and on their coat pegs, drawers/boxes and nappy trays.\n\nThe Famly app is used brilliantly, with updates and photos (usually twice a day). Private messaging is a great bonus as well - early on when I was struggling to leave my baby or if he was a bit upset at drop off, I would be sent a message half an hour later with photos of him happily playing or eating which just put my mind at rest straight away - the practitioners know exactly how to calm both parent and child! It's great to see the detail of how much he eats and sleeps and the number of changes throughout the day on the app too. Invoices are also done through Famly as well as general notices and you can give access to family members who can see the fun too!\n\nThe care is excellent all-round, with everyone in the baby room kept up to date about our preferences/sleep/medicine etc, and each practitioner is just so invested in our boy's wellbeing. The chef is also brilliant and I love seeing the brilliant varied diet the babies are given which puts my mind at rest. Not to mention the odd treat every so often when they do baking for their messy play! From Robyn the cleaner right the way up to Janet, the general manager, each and every person at Smithfield House is wonderful and I can't thank them enough for the care they give our baby boy.
