Since I have discovered that it was used as a gaol and here it was the last execution of a female in England and the last execution in Bristol. It was commissioned in 1816 and took its first inmates in 1820 with the first execution takes place in 1821. In 1831 the prison was burned by during the Bristol riots and which the prisoners were released.
