They all take the time to build relationships with the children and parents alike. They have done so much to support our child and we can't thank them enough. The opportunities at Mericourt are above and beyond those at other local nurseries- forest schools, gardening, trips, activity days, parent workshops are just a few to name! The setting itself is welcoming with plenty of outdoor space. However, these initiatives are still developing, meaning children with SEND and babies do not always benefit from the same rich opportunities to hear language and practise their communication skills. Staff work closely with outside agencies to provide appropriate support for children with SEND, complete training for specific physical and medical needs, and offer targeted support to parents when making educational choices. Children with SEND make progress from their starting points. Outdoor space Children enjoy a campfire in forest school sessions, where they carefully follow rules and staff expectations. They grow fruits and vegetables in their allotment, learning about where food comes from, and enjoy eating meals outside with friends. Children develop stamina and large muscles through walks in the local area and by climbing on exciting play equipment in the outdoor areas at nursery.
