"reviewBody": "Our experience at Todwick Early Years (TEY) has been fantastic.\nOur daughter wanted to go to nursery and we were thrilled to find TEY is a small, nurturing, child focused nursery.\nAll the staff have been at the nursery for a long time, so the children have continuity and build strong relationships with them.\nEach child is assigned a primary carer based on who they gel most with during their first weeks at nursery - it’s a great system as that nursery carer then focuses on your child’s progress throughout their time at TEY.\nWe receive regular feedback on learning & development and are asked to share details of life at home. For example Chloe our daughters primary carer, advised she was ready for potty training, with nursery offering plenty of positive support to aid the transition.\nThe stay & play open days are a great way to see your child playing with their friends also nice to see all the lovely art work & writing your child has done.\nOur daughters writing and phonics knowledge has come on incredibly in the time she’s been at nursery, with her able to write her name & recognise words at only 3 years old!\nThe management at TEY welcome feedback and are open to suggestions on how life at nursery can be improved even further.\nIn short it’s a very safe, nurturing nursery which focuses equally on fun, learning about the world, educational skills & outside play.\nI wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.",

The communication between the staff and parents is outstanding — we’re always kept well-informed and feel genuinely involved in our daughter’s day-to-day learning. The team is warm, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do.\n\nOne of the things we love most is how our daughter comes home beaming with pride, holding beautiful, themed crafts she’s created during her time at nursery. It’s such a joy to see the creativity and care that goes into every activity.\n\nWe’re so grateful to have found such a nurturing and inspiring environment for her. Todwick Early Years has truly exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommended to any family looking for a supportive and enriching early years setting.",

"reviewBody": "My little boy, Matty, has been attending Todwick Early Years (TEY) for over two years now, and he loves his time there. He has made some strong friendships and comes home each evening with smiles and stories about what he’s been doing during the day, and whom he has been playing with. Matty loves Louise, his key educator; she makes him laugh and she takes a real interest in what he’s been doing on his weekends and over the holidays. Thank you, Louise.\nMatty particularly enjoys the construction area and having the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular activities, such as Phonics Bear lessons and Kixx football lessons. He has developed very well, both socially and intellectually at TEY, and his confidence has grown.\n\nTEY staff go above and beyond to make the provision exciting and engaging for the children, with new activities each week and a new focus each half term. Their Facebook page is updated very regularly, showcasing the wonderful activities and learning stations the staff have thoughtfully put together for the children. They are always very topical and reflect key events that happen throughout the year, such as World Earth Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Chinese New Year etc. The staff put a lot of time into setting up crafting stations, where the children make such lovely crafts to bring home. The Christmas bag of crafts my son brought home last Christmas was amazing and he was so proud of showing us his creations.\n\nAll the staff are friendly, warm, welcoming and caring, my son loves them all. Most have been there for the duration of my son’s time at TEY. Parents and carers are invited in regularly for stay and play sessions, which I love. It is brilliant to see your little one in their nursery setting, it is a great opportunity to meet their friends and to touch base with the educators on your child’s social and educational progression. At these sessions, there is a folder of notes and photos to look through.\n\nAny questions, advice, help, support needed from the staff at TEY is always on hand, if needed. I’ve found the staff very supportive of helping my son to navigate some foods that he struggles with.\n\nAs a parent, children are your everything, so it’s very comforting to know that they are in excellent care and are happy, whilst you are out at work. Thank you to Amy, and all the staff at Todwick Early Years for your hard work, dedication and care of Matty, he loves you all and I know he will be sad to leave when he moves up to big school in September.",

He is always going in happy and coming out beaming with a bag full of crafts and pictures he has done!\nMy son has coeliac disease and we were nervous about him going into a childcare environment without us but TEY have been amazing, they provide him a gluten free meal similar to what the other children are having so he doesn’t feel left out and they are really conscious to keep him included with gf treats and snacks on party days! They even made some gf play dough so he could join in with everyone, they truly go out of their way! All the staff are so lovely and caring and always great him with a smile and a big warm welcome and because it is a smaller nursery they really get to know each child and ask for regularly term learning objectives from parents and ask to know about any special family/home events so they can talk to the children about it.\n\nI am so impressed with this nursery and would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.",

What it's like to attend

In this close-knit nursery, children show positive attitudes to learning. They thrive in a safe and nurturing environment that encourages children to challenge themselves and take appropriate risks. This helps them understand rules and responsibilities, preparing them well for their transition to school. Children are well supported to reach their potential as they explore and understand their world.

Inspector highlights

- Leaders provide a broad curriculum covering all learning areas, thoughtfully designed to build on children's existing knowledge and experiences.
- Strong bonds form with children from the start, supported by a highly effective key-person system.
- Children make good progress in their communication and language.
- Staff have clear procedures for identifying and supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
- Leaders are committed to improving the nursery; their strengthened self-evaluation drives continuous progress.

Areas to develop

- 1 increase the range of opportunities for children to develop their independent learning skills to maximise their critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills
- 2 ensure all staff are consistently clear on what children are intended to learn when supporting them during each activity, to help children make the best possible progress.

## What parents say

Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection

> Parents consistently say the staff are amazing and friendly, which gives them great confidence in the care their children receive.

Inclusion & environment

## How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff have clear procedures for identifying and supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Thorough observations and assessments help staff quickly identify children who might be at risk of falling behind. They introduce targeted learning plans, which leaders monitor closely. Good teamwork with health professionals and agencies, like Speech and Language Therapy, ensures children with SEND make good progress from their individual starting points.

Outdoor space

Children confidently connect their learning experiences and clearly show pride in what they achieve. This confidence extends outdoors, where they learn to assess and manage risks. They confidently show their physical skills by safely jumping from climbing equipment and shouting, 'Look what I can do!'.

Our experience at Todwick Early Years (TEY) has been fantastic. Our daughter wanted to go to nursery and we were thrilled to find TEY is a small, nurturing, child focused nursery. All the staff have been at the nursery for a long time, so the children have continuity and build strong relationships with them. Each child is assigned a primary carer based on who they gel most with during their first weeks at nursery - it’s a great system as that nursery carer then focuses on your child’s progress throughout their time at TEY. We receive regular feedback on learning & development and are asked to share details of life at home. For example Chloe our daughters primary carer, advised she was ready for potty training, with nursery offering plenty of positive support to aid the transition. The stay & play open days are a great way to see your child playing with their friends also nice to see all the lovely art work & writing your child has done. Our daughters writing and phonics knowledge has come on incredibly in the time she’s been at nursery, with her able to write her name & recognise words at only 3 years old! The management at TEY welcome feedback and are open to suggestions on how life at nursery can be improved even further. In short it’s a very safe, nurturing nursery which focuses equally on fun, learning about the world, educational skills & outside play. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Todwick Early Years. The communication between the staff and parents is outstanding — we’re always kept well-informed and feel genuinely involved in our daughter’s day-to-day learning. The team is warm, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do. One of the things we love most is how our daughter comes home beaming with pride, holding beautiful, themed crafts she’s created during her time at nursery. It’s such a joy to see the creativity and care that goes into every activity. We’re so grateful to have found such a nurturing and inspiring environment for her. Todwick Early Years has truly exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommended to any family looking for a supportive and enriching early years setting.

My little boy, Matty, has been attending Todwick Early Years (TEY) for over two years now, and he loves his time there. He has made some strong friendships and comes home each evening with smiles and stories about what he’s been doing during the day, and whom he has been playing with. Matty loves Louise, his key educator; she makes him laugh and she takes a real interest in what he’s been doing on his weekends and over the holidays. Thank you, Louise. Matty particularly enjoys the construction area and having the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular activities, such as Phonics Bear lessons and Kixx football lessons. He has developed very well, both socially and intellectually at TEY, and his confidence has grown. TEY staff go above and beyond to make the provision exciting and engaging for the children, with new activities each week and a new focus each half term. The Christmas bag of crafts my son brought home last Christmas was amazing and he was so proud of showing us his creations. All the staff are friendly, warm, welcoming and caring, my son loves them all. At these sessions, there is a folder of notes and photos to look through. Any questions, advice, help, support needed from the staff at TEY is always on hand, if needed. I’ve found the staff very supportive of helping my son to navigate some foods that he struggles with. As a parent, children are your everything, so it’s very comforting to know that they are in excellent care and are happy, whilst you are out at work. Thank you to Amy, and all the staff at Todwick Early Years for your hard work, dedication and care of Matty, he loves you all and I know he will be sad to leave when he moves up to big school in September.

My little boy has been at TEY since September and he loves it so much! He is always going in happy and coming out beaming with a bag full of crafts and pictures he has done! My son has coeliac disease and we were nervous about him going into a childcare environment without us but TEY have been amazing, they provide him a gluten free meal similar to what the other children are having so he doesn’t feel left out and they are really conscious to keep him included with gf treats and snacks on party days! They even made some gf play dough so he could join in with everyone, they truly go out of their way! All the staff are so lovely and caring and always great him with a smile and a big warm welcome and because it is a smaller nursery they really get to know each child and ask for regularly term learning objectives from parents and ask to know about any special family/home events so they can talk to the children about it. I am so impressed with this nursery and would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.
