The nursery is conveniently situated in the same building as the Stepping Stones Opportunity Group and adjacent to a local primary school. It is registered to accommodate 38 children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years. The indoor environment features two distinct, bright, and airy areas tailored for different age groups. Emphasising outdoor play, the nursery makes extensive use of its external spaces, including a dedicated garden for the youngest children and a larger area for all children to explore. Waterproofs and wellies are encouraged as children engage in muddy play and outdoor activities across various seasons. The nursery offers flexible care options including full-day, half-day, and sessional care, operating throughout the year. The team believes in fostering a connection with the community through outdoor experiences. Staff implement effective strategies to help children who need additional support with their communication and language skills. They use various specialist programmes, model accurate language to the children and work with other agencies. The special educational needs coordinator spoke to the inspector about how they support children with special educational needs and/ disabilities. Outdoor space Children spend a lot of time outdoors in the fresh air where they can exercise and develop their fine- and gross-motor skills.
