[15 Contact us ](#contact) 01 ## About these terms These terms govern your use of **Nursery Advice** (the website and any related services). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't, please stop using the site. We update these terms from time to time — the "last updated" date above always reflects the current version. "We", "us" and "Nursery Advice" refer to the operator of this site. "You" means anyone using the site, whether you're a parent searching for a nursery, a nursery owner managing a listing, or a visitor browsing. 02 ## What Nursery Advice is (and isn't) Nursery Advice is an independent UK nursery directory operated by **Better Search Limited**, a company registered in England and Wales (company number **17209315**). We pull together public data about Ofsted-registered childcare providers, present it in a way that's useful to families, and let nursery owners claim and improve their own listing. We are **not**: - A nursery, childminder, or childcare provider - An agent, broker or booking platform — we do not contract on behalf of any nursery - Affiliated with or endorsed by Ofsted, the Department for Education or any local authority - A regulator — concerns about a setting should always go to Ofsted directly Choosing a nursery is a significant decision. Use Nursery Advice as a starting point, then visit the setting, read their full inspection reports, and speak to staff before you enrol your child. 03 ## Ofsted, GIAS and other public data Most of what you see on a listing — the registration status, inspection grades, address and provider details — comes from public sources, principally Ofsted's published inspection reports and management information, and the Department for Education's Get Information About Schools (GIAS) register. This material is reused under the [Open Government Licence v3.0](https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/). We refresh these sources regularly but cannot guarantee they are up to the minute. The authoritative version of any inspection report is the one on [reports.ofsted.gov.uk](https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/). If a setting has been re-inspected very recently, the official report may be more current than ours. 04 ## Accuracy, flagging and our no-fabrication rule We work hard to keep listings accurate and we follow a strict **no-fabrication rule**: if our pipeline is uncertain about a piece of information — a phone number, a website, an opening time — we save it but flag it as unverified, and hide it from the public listing until a person has reviewed it. We would rather show less than show something invented. That said, mistakes happen. Names change, settings move, fees go up. If you spot something wrong, use the "Report an issue" link on the listing or contact us. Owners of a claimed listing can correct most fields themselves. 05 ## Accounts, parents and saved searches Some features — saving favourite nurseries, comparing settings, sending enquiries — work better if you create an account. You must be 18 or over to create one. Keep your login details to yourself; you're responsible for activity that happens under your account. We use your account information only to provide the service and to contact you about it. See our privacy notice for the full picture of what we collect and why. 06 ## Claiming and managing a nursery listing If you are the owner, registered manager or an authorised representative of a nursery, you can claim its listing. By claiming, you confirm you have authority to act for the setting and that the information you provide is accurate. - You may edit owner-controlled fields (description, photos, opening days, pricing notes, FAQs). - You may not edit Ofsted-sourced fields. If you believe inspection data is wrong, raise it with Ofsted; we will mirror their corrections. - You may request to hide your headline Ofsted grade from the top of your listing — but the underlying public data still appears in your full report card. - Photos you upload must be ones you own or have permission to use, and must not show identifiable children without parental consent. We will remove anything that doesn't meet this bar. - We may suspend or remove a claim if we suspect impersonation, misleading content, or breach of these terms. 07 ## Enquiries, visit requests and waitlists When you send an enquiry, book a visit, or join a waitlist through Nursery Advice, we pass your details to the nursery so they can respond. We are not party to whatever you agree with the nursery from there — terms of enrolment, fees, deposits and cancellation are between you and them. Nurseries who receive enquiries through us must handle your information lawfully and only use it to respond to your request, unless you separately agree otherwise. 08 ## Reviews and parent quotes Where we display parent quotes, they are usually drawn from the published Ofsted inspection report for the setting. Ofsted gathers parent views as part of inspection and publishes them with the report; we surface them in context. If we add a feature for parents to submit reviews directly, the rules will be: real experiences only, no first names of children, no allegations of unlawful conduct (those belong with Ofsted or the police), and we may moderate or remove anything that breaches these rules. Nurseries can flag reviews they believe are inaccurate or fake. 09 ## Acceptable use You agree not to: - Use the site to do anything unlawful or to infringe anyone's rights - Scrape, harvest or bulk-extract listings, photos or other content without our written permission - Submit false, misleading or defamatory information about any setting, owner or staff member - Upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or interfere with our systems - Use the enquiry features to send marketing, recruitment or unrelated commercial messages - Impersonate a nursery, owner, parent or anyone else Breach of these rules may lead to your account being suspended and, where appropriate, referral to the relevant authorities. 10 ## Intellectual property The Nursery Advice name, design, layouts, written commentary, copy, illustrations and code are ours (or licensed to us). You may view, share and link to listings for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish or build a competing directory from our content. Public-sector content (Ofsted reports, GIAS data) remains subject to its own licence — see the Ofsted notice in the footer. 11 ## Liability and disclaimers Nursery Advice is provided "as is". We make reasonable efforts to keep information current and the site available, but we don't guarantee accuracy, completeness or uninterrupted access. Decisions about your child's care are yours and should be based on your own visits and the official Ofsted report. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be excluded under English law. 12 ## Safeguarding and reporting concerns If you have a safeguarding concern about a child or about practice at a nursery, **do not report it through Nursery Advice**. Contact [Ofsted](https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/ofsted) directly, or in an emergency call 999. Our enquiry tools are not monitored in real time and are not an appropriate channel for urgent welfare matters. 13 ## Changes to the service or these terms We may add, change or remove features at any time, and we may update these terms. If we make a material change we'll flag it on the homepage or by email to account holders. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms. 14 ## Governing law These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. 15 ## Contact us Questions about these terms, takedown requests, or worries about a listing?
