How we write the Parent Hub

The Parent Hub exists to give UK parents the clearest possible answer to the questions they Google at 11pm. Every guide follows the same standards.

Who writes our guides

Guides are drafted by the Nursery Advice editorial team and reviewed before publication. Where a topic touches on health (sleep, weaning, illness), we anchor advice to the NHS and recognised UK charities — never to anecdotes or off-shore blogs.

The sources we use

  • Funding & money: gov.uk, HMRC, Childcare Choices, Money Helper.
  • Early years education: gov.uk (Department for Education), Ofsted, Early Years Alliance.
  • Sleep: NHS, The Lullaby Trust, Basis (Baby Sleep Info Source), The Sleep Charity.
  • Weaning & feeding: NHS Start for Life, First Steps Nutrition Trust.
  • Potty training: NHS, ERIC (the children's bowel and bladder charity).
  • Choosing childcare: Ofsted, Early Years Alliance, Coram Family and Childcare.

Every numerical claim carries a footnote with the publisher, page title, link and the date we last verified it. You'll find the full list at the bottom of every guide.

How often we update

Every guide carries two dates: Last updated and Next review. We re-check funding figures, NHS guidance and Ofsted publications at least every six months — and immediately when the underlying policy or guidance changes (Budget day, a new EYFS framework, an NHS safer-sleep update).

What we don't do

  • We don't take payment to feature a nursery in editorial content.
  • We don't invent reviews or quotes. Parent quotes only come from real Ofsted reports.
  • We don't give medical advice. Our guides direct you to your GP, health visitor or NHS 111 whenever appropriate.

Corrections & feedback

If you've spotted something out of date, inaccurate or unclear, please email hello@nurseryadvice.co.uk. We'll respond within five working days and publish corrections transparently with an updated review date.
