Acorn Preschool in Norwich offers a warm and engaging environment where children aged 2 to 4 years and 11 months are encouraged to learn through exploration and play. Established in 1977, this community-based, registered charity operates independently, despite being situated within Dussindale Primary School, and boasts its own dedicated entrance and facilities, including both indoor and outdoor play areas.

The preschool is committed to a child-centred approach, treating each child as an individual with unique needs and supporting their development at their own pace. A professional and passionate team guides the children through diverse activities while fostering a positive partnership with parents to ensure children are happy, confident, and well-prepared for their next steps.

The curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, covering seven key areas of development to provide a rich and varied learning experience.

Professional relationships with other agencies and services are strong, particularly supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Strategies and information are shared between professionals, staff and parents to help provide children with consistent approaches and support.

Outdoor space

Staff invite other children to join in as they play games outside, promoting friendships and shared play. The inspector observed the quality of education being provided indoors and outdoors.
