About this day nursery

Auntie Jayne's House is a nursery dedicated to providing exceptional early years care in a nurturing, family-led environment. Established in 2007 by Jayne Green, who was inspired by her own experiences as a parent, the nursery focuses on creating a homely atmosphere where children feel loved, secure, and happy.

Housed in a beautifully restored 18th-century barn with extensive outdoor areas, Auntie Jayne's House encourages learning through exploration and hands-on experiences. The mission is to foster confidence, curiosity, and kindness in children aged 0-5, supported by freshly prepared, organic, and nutritious meals.

The ethos is centred on strong relationships with families, nurturing the whole child's emotional wellbeing and development at their own pace. The unique setting and commitment to making childhood magical combine to help little ones grow into wonderful individuals.

Our ethos

At Auntie Jayne's House, everything we do is rooted in family values. We create a calm, loving environment where children feel secure, understood and genuinely cherished. Strong relationships with families are at the heart of our nursery. Children learn best through play, discovery and hands-on experiences. Our inspiring indoor spaces and rich outdoor provision encourage curiosity, independence and imagination every day. We provide freshly prepared, organic and nutritious meals, carefully chosen to support healthy development and encourage positive relationships with food from the very beginning. We gently support emotional wellbeing,confidence and social development alongside early learning, allowing each child to flourish at their own pace. Our beautifully restored 18th-century barn provides a charming, character-filled environment that feels both special and welcoming — a place where magical childhood memories are made.​​

SEND provision

Leaders have designed a curriculum planned to meet the individual needs and next steps of all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), ensuring they make progress from their starting points. The special educational needs coordinator spoke to the inspector about how they support children with SEND.

Outdoor space

Children benefit from a well-resourced outdoor area and have daily access to fresh air. Older children enjoy eating their snacks and lunch in the outdoors, and during the summer months, younger children nap in the garden, providing a calm and restful atmosphere. Staff have added large construction materials to the outdoor area to extend learning and support imaginative play.
