Amesbury School is committed to fostering a holistic educational experience that extends beyond traditional academics, preparing children to thrive in an ever-changing world. The curriculum, particularly for Key Stage 3 (Years 7 & 8), features the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate (PSB), a modern assessment framework designed to cultivate essential values, skills, attitudes, and behaviours.
This framework, overseen by the Learning Skills Trust, emphasises flexible intelligence, independent learning application, effective communication, and a genuine love for learning. The school incorporates six core PSB skills—Leadership, Collaboration, Independence, Thinking & Learning, Review & Improvement, and Communication—and adds a seventh, Community, highlighting kindness, compassion, and belonging.
These skills are integrated into both academic subjects and co-curricular activities, ensuring that pupils understand not just what they learn, but also how they learn. The Amesbury Award further reinforces these skills through real-world experiences and teambuilding.
Assessment is comprehensive, blending projects, presentations, practical work, and formal evaluations to provide a nuanced picture of progress. In Year 8, students undertake the Pre-Senior Project Qualification (PSPQ), an independently designed and led research project that culminates in a formal presentation, showcasing their scholarship, curiosity, and communication abilities.

Inclusion & environment
Children love being outside in the fresh air. Staff ensure they have ample opportunities to be physically active and develop their core muscles by pulling themselves up and cruising around stable equipment and furniture. They stay close by as children delight when splashing, pouring and emptying containers in the water play.
