Bo-Peeps Day Nursery in Cinderford provides care for children aged from birth to four years. It operates all year round, opening from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. The day nursery offers government-funded childcare places for three and four-year-olds. In June 2025, Ofsted carried out an inspection and rated the nursery's overall effectiveness as Good. The inspector found that staff form strong bonds with children, creating a calm environment where they feel safe.
The curriculum is planned around a child-led approach and covers all seven areas of learning, with a focus on strengthening communication and language skills. Staff support children to develop their independence and self-care routines. Children with additional needs receive support through tailored plans and targeted resources funded by the nursery, such as visual aids. Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
Parents frequently share that their children love attending the nursery and often do not want to leave at the end of the day.
Inclusion & environment
Recognising that boys needed support in developing early writing skills, staff introduced small-group activities like play dough and Lego to strengthen the muscles needed for later writing. Staff use tailored plans to ensure children with additional needs receive consistent support. Funding is used to provide additional staff and targeted resources, such as 'now and next' boards and visual aids. These interventions help children reach their full potential.
Children enjoy participating in physical activities, supported by staff who encourage their movement and engagement in the garden. Older children create race tracks and climb play equipment, building coordination and burning off excess energy. Babies explore the soft play, testing their abilities in a safe environment.
I rarely leave reviews, but our experience with this nursery has been so poor that I feel other parents should be aware. Communication has been consistently bad, concerns are brushed aside, and there seems to be very little accountability for mistakes. We were repeatedly left feeling ignored and undervalued as parents. The level of professionalism is far below what you would expect from a childcare provider, and it’s clear that basic standards are not being met. I would strongly advise any parent to think twice before trusting this nursery with their child. It has caused us nothing but stress and frustration, and we would not recommend it to anyone.
Read on GoogleWe've had several ongoing issues with this nursery over the years, which unfortunately reflect a pattern of poor management and inflexible, often unnecessary policies. Despite raising concerns, there seems to be little willingness to adapt or improve. Customer service consistently falls short of expectations, and it often feels like the satisfaction of parents is not a priority. I hope others have had better experiences, but ours has been frustrating and disheartening.
Read on GoogleThe nursery staff themselves are generally caring and good with the children, but the management and policies leave a lot to be desired… The nursery is not very flexible and has sent my children home on multiple occasions for what felt like unnecessary reasons and sometimes refusing to allow them back 2 days later. This is without offering refunds or alternative sessions. This makes it feel like parents are unfairly out of pocket and have to take unnecessary holidays or make other child care arrangements. Overall, while the staff do their best, the management’s rigid and sometimes unfair policies sometimes make the experience extremely frustrating.
