About this day nursery

Busy Bees Day Nursery at Horsham, established in 2015, operates from purpose-built premises and offers childcare for children aged 0 to 4 years. 30pm on weekdays, closing only for bank holidays.

This large nursery maintains a welcoming atmosphere where children are valued and respected, with staff who effectively support their emotional development and help them settle quickly. Children benefit from a rich array of activities that build on their knowledge and interests, such as planting fruits and vegetables after exploring the story of "Super Potato," which also promotes healthy eating and an understanding of food origins.

The curriculum places a strong emphasis on language development, with staff promoting new words through nursery rhymes for babies and helping older children construct sentences through storytelling and puppet play. Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive particularly strong support, with leaders allocating funding effectively to ensure staff are well-trained to meet every child's individual needs.

Parents have praised how well staff know their children across all age groups and how effectively the nursery prepares children for their transition to school through "the Academy" development and collaboration with local schools, ensuring a smooth and confident start to school life. Although children generally have choice in their play, the nursery is working to adapt staffing to ensure uninterrupted outdoor play for mixed-age groups.

Parents praise how well staff working across all age groups know their individual children.

Parents praise how well nursery staff prepare their children and how quickly they settle in when they start at school.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

The children who need extra help with their learning are supported especially well. Leaders use funding well. They make sure staff are appropriately trained and clearly understand how to support every child.

Outdoor space

At times, staffing arrangements mean that children who are happily playing outside are told they need to go in, so other children can go out. Leaders recognise this is not necessary and that staffing arrangements can be adapted to ensure mixed-age groups of children can play safely outside together.

Brilliant nursery, warm welcoming staff team of various ages and very knowledgable. My son has settled in really well and enjoys every day he goes there. The facilities are great, the food provided is all home cooked and of excellent standard. The garden space is excellent and they also use the woods for forest fun. Would highly recommend this nursery.

This is a good nursery, however preferred the toddler room it was better run. This place is 100 times better than Bright Horizons Horsham however I've had to moan to get my sons learning journal updated and the front door of the nursery is a nightmare waiting to happen and it did at Bright Horizons. Sadly they are constantly swapping staff around which is why my son is so unsettled the boards haven't changed in a while I mean according to the key worker board my son doesn't have one an there is a lady on that board I have never even met and I don't even think she works there anymore! They are good with my son he has come on leaps and bounds but my friends nursery she uses is better they get weekly updates on topics they are learning with photos and videos of new things they do in nursery so much better communication between parents. If I have another one I will be taking my business to them that's Barn Owls Southwater. Staff are pleasant but I just wish this place was a better run nursery where things are updated regularly it has so much potential to be amazing! I've not seen any senco paperwork or planning for my sons speach delays. Ofsted is correct they are good but need to aim higher and do better. Also the paperwork to sign in medication is awful and needs a rethink.

Great nursery. Been brilliant helping my son develop. Nothing is ever too much trouble at this place. Like seeing the reports on what my boy has eaten during his day, to which I’m sometimes surprised at. Keep up the good work.

A purpose built nursery that accommodates children's needs. Very good set up, professional staff and well managed. My son went here for a month due to the pandemic but we were impressed from what we saw. Go and have a look around.
