Camel Pre-School is in Wantage and provides care for children from two to seven years old. It operates from Monday to Friday during term time, with sessions running from 8am to 6pm. The provision includes a breakfast club and an after-school club, and some holiday clubs are also offered by prior arrangement. The pre-school was inspected by Ofsted in June 2023 and received an overall judgement of Good.

The inspector noted that all children have access to a large outdoor area throughout the day. Activities include building with large blocks, using a wooden climbing frame, and painting on an outdoor easel. Ofsted found that staff are nurturing, know the children and their families well, and effectively support children to settle. Staff identify children who need extra support and plan accordingly, working with other agencies when required to ensure children receive specialist help.

What it's like to attend

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff identify children who need extra support and plan accordingly. The manager and her staff ensure that any additional funding is spent effectively to address gaps in children's learning and have a positive impact on children's development. For example, they implement targeted support, access additional sessions and purchase further resources. Staff work closely with other agencies to ensure that children receive specialist support when needed.

Outdoor space

All children enjoy access to the large outside area throughout the day. They have plenty of opportunities to practise their physical skills. For example, following an interest in traditional tales, children use large building blocks to build 'ice-cream castles'. In addition, they learn to balance on the large wooden climbing frame and navigate the wooden steps. Children develop their early writing skills, making marks on the outside easel with paintbrushes.
