Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are extremely well supported. Staff have impressive knowledge of children's needs and what makes them unique. Leaders and staff work closely with other professionals to ensure that any specific needs are identified early and acted on quickly to ensure all children have the best possible start in life. The special educational needs coordinator spoke to the inspector about how they support children with SEND.
The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this was having on children's learning.
Children who speak English as an additional language are extremely well supported.
Working in early years myself I was incredibly picky when it came to choosing a nursery for my little girl and was very reluctant to leave her anywhere when I had to return to work, but Canterbury Road is like a home away from home for my little one and she is flourishing; I can’t thank the staff enough for their dedication and hard work :)
Read on GoogleWe can’t recommend Canterbury road nursery enough! We feel our daughter is in complete safe hands with all of the staff. The staff are passionate about caring for children and developing new skills in a gentle positive way. My daughter has learnt lots of new skills and is very confident when interacting with other children. She loves all of the staff at the nursery - key workers, managers and in particular the chef! The management team are amazing and always go above and beyond. The nursery provides regular engagement sessions for parents such as open evenings, Christmas events and training such as first aid. We love the Christmas event and go every year.
Read on GoogleMy twin boys have been at this nursery since they were 8 months old. I was very anxious about them going to nursery so young, but they settled in quickly thanks to the lovely staff in the baby room, who made them and us feel completely at ease. The moves from one room to the next are done very gradually, so when the children finally move up for good they know the room, the staff and the other children completely. There is a massive range of fantastic resources throughout nursery and the activities are varied and structured every single day, so that the children do not get bored. There is also a fabulous, good sized garden with separate areas for the older and younger ones, with lots of toys, bikes, scooters etc to keep them occupied. My boys have thoroughly enjoyed their time at Canterbury Road Day Nursery. All of the staff from Room Leaders, to Kitchen staff to Apprentices, are extremely professional, highly trained and very kind and caring, and Managers Mel and Philippa are very professional and knowledgeable. I find there is a very personal touch that you just would not get from a nursery belonging to one of the large nursery groups, and I highly recommend it here.
Read on GoogleMy son goes to this nursery. As a teacher and previously, a nursery nurse, I was very particular about which nursery to choose. From the moment we walked in the staff were friendly and caring, all interacting with my son as we toured the nursery. As he was only 9 months old when he started at nursery, the caring approach was very important to me. The environment is stimulating and child friendly, the staff are consistently reflecting on practice and making improvements. The new changes to the baby room are great, really engaging for the babies. Facilities within the nursery are fantastic with a soft play area and sensory room and an amazing outdoor learning area. Parental partnership is very strong with great communication. My son absolutely loves going to Canterbury Road and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Thank you to the fab team!
Read on GoogleIn 2015, after visiting 10 nurseries for our daughter we chose Canterbury Rd Day Nursery and we were very happy with our decision. The rooms, staff, play areas and management were and are excellent. Each day you receive a 'report' of what your child has done and now there is the online portal Capture where you see pictures and updates about your child plus you can upload your own too. There are 2 cooks that deliver healthy and varied meals with seasonal changes. There are regular events held at the nursery or local hall and parents evening twice a year. My daughter loved it there and now so does my son. If you are looking for a nursery for your child then I would highly recommend choosing Canterbury Rd.
