About this day nursery

Cheeky Monkeys Two, a childcare setting on non-domestic premises in Bedford (MK40 2DA), has been operating since 2008. The nursery is open Monday to Friday, all year round, from 8am to 6pm, catering to children aged 0-4 years.

Leaders and staff are dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming, and secure environment where children are happy and form close relationships with their key workers. They proactively provide opportunities for physical activity outdoors, with each child receiving an all-weather suit to ensure outdoor learning in all conditions, fostering an understanding of nature and healthy lifestyle choices.

The nursery champions inclusive practices, offering strong support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) by providing individual targets and collaborating with external agencies. Additionally, children learning English as an additional language (EAL) are well supported, with some staff even learning key phrases in children's home languages to aid emotional well-being.

A strong partnership with parents is evident through effective communication and shared learning goals, contributing to children's overall development and well-being.

Our ethos

Cheeky Monkeys Two Day Nursery is dedicated to nurturing young minds in a supportive and educational environment. They emphasise fostering independence through age-appropriate tasks and responsibilities, aiming for children to leave feeling happy, confident, and with enhanced learning capabilities. The nursery also focuses on providing personalised care through a strong and competent team.

What it's like

The manager and her staff team have created a warm, welcoming and secure environment. Children enter happily and they have close relationships with their key worker. Staff plan the curriculum around children's interests and use seasonal events to extend children's learning. However, the curriculum is not yet well sequenced or implemented consistently, meaning children do not always benefit from precisely targeted teaching, and staff do not consistently ensure daily routines promote children's welfare and well-being.

My 4 year old daughter loved it here, she was well looked after by all the staff especially by Clair (special thank you) and from what I have observed, all the staff are loving and caring towards all the children entrusted in their care. My daughter's self confidence, enthusiasm for learning and independence has grown in the year that she was there. Undoubtedly, one of the best day nurseries in Bedford. Have recommended to my all friends, family and associates. A+ Very grateful Elena xox

The deputy manager’s communication is very poor. She initially stated there spaces and i wanted my little one to start Asap only for me to be told there is a waiting list where i have to wait for another 4 weeks after filling in the application form. Totally unfair. I had to be the one calling, asking how far the application is, and each time i get a different story from the one I initially. Time wasted and lack of sufficient communication, thus 1 star.
