Outdoor space

Children engage in a wide range of outdoor activities at the nursery. The well-organised environment promotes their natural curiosity and eagerness to learn. Children are confident and interact with staff, each other and visitors. Toddlers squeal with delight as they splash in the rain puddles and fill and empty jugs of water. Children enjoy listening to a story as they sit underneath the tree outside. Toddlers use brushes to paint the barks of the trees with coloured shaving foam.

We used this nursery for the woodlands holiday club during the 2 week Easter school holidays. My 5 year old had such an amazing time on the first day he didn’t want to come home at 3pm, he wanted to stay until 5pm. For the rest of the week I paid a small amount extra so he could stay til 5pm and have a light tea there. My son was really excited to do all the craft activities. He was also taught woodwork, he was assisted with cutting some wood and nailing it together and then painting it to make a Gruffalo stickman. I was very impressed by this, he came home telling me he had learnt how to use a vice to hold wood still. Amazing. I was very impressed with the communication and pictures on the ‘blossom’ app. Details of what your child has been doing, what they have eaten and at what time etc were all recorded live for me to see. I will definitely be using them again for the holiday club. Thank you Heaton Children’s Place!
