Countryways Nursery, situated on a family farm, offers a nurturing and organic learning environment where children gain fundamental skills through hands-on experiences. The nursery is structured with three key rooms: Little Class, Inbetweenies, and Transition, catering to different developmental stages.

The dedicated team includes Hannah, who serves as SENCO, Early Years Educator, and Designated Safeguarding Lead; Amy, the Under Two's Lead and Early Years Educator; Jodi, the Speech and Language Co-Ordinator and Dietary Nutritionist; and Lynne, the Nursery Manager, Proprietor, Chef, and Early Years Educator. The staff is committed to ongoing professional development, participating in weekly training to stay current with educational guidelines and developmental insights, and all are fully trained in First Aid with annual refreshers.

A distinctive feature of Countryways is its integration of farm animals into the children's learning. The nursery is home to a variety of animals including chickens, geese, ducks, sheep, goats, and ponies, as well as several beehives.

This unique exposure helps children develop social, emotional, and cognitive skills, while also fostering a sense of responsibility and respect for living creatures through activities like feeding animals, collecting eggs, and grooming ponies. This interaction also enriches language development and promotes empathy and understanding among the children.

What it's like

Children come into the nursery happily and quickly settle to activities, forming strong bonds with staff, showing they feel happy and safe. They behave well, demonstrate good manners, and gain useful self-care skills, becoming more independent. Children take part in a varied range of enjoyable experiences, and staff have high expectations for what they can achieve.
