Denton Island Nursery, operating since 2004 in Newhaven, BN9 9BA, provides a welcoming and secure environment where children aged 0-4 years thrive. Open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, 50 weeks a year, the nursery ensures children feel safe and emotionally secure from the moment they arrive.

A particular strength lies in their highly ambitious support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The nursery thoughtfully adapts its provision, creating calm spaces with sensory resources to assist children with emotional regulation.

They proactively make timely referrals and collaborate closely with parents and external agencies, implementing detailed, targeted plans. Staff skillfully teach alternative communication methods like pictures, gestures, and Makaton, empowering all children, including those with SEND, to express themselves confidently.

Learning extends outdoors, where older children joyfully chase bubbles in the garden, demonstrating the impactful education provided in all areas. Strong partnerships with parents are fostered through excellent relationships and consistent daily communication, ensuring a holistic approach to each child's development.
