About this day nursery

Early Years @ Lightcliffe is a well-established, non-profit preschool located in the Christ Church Centre on Leeds Road, serving the local community since 1994. The nursery is committee-run and committed to providing a safe, secure, and welcoming atmosphere where children can freely play, learn, and develop to their utmost potential.

They cater to a broad age range, from birth up to 12 years, offering diverse provisions such as a dedicated baby room for infants up to 2 years, a happy and nurturing preschool environment for 2-5 year olds, and "Older Years" care for school-aged children (4-12 years) including before and after school clubs, plus a Holiday Club during school breaks. The curriculum emphasises imaginative play activities like water and sand play, dough, role-playing, drawing, painting, and crafts.

The nursery is Ofsted registered with registration number EY303768 and is proud of their achievement with Dingley's Mark, continuously striving to help every child reach their highest potential. Beyond childcare, they also rent out their main hall for local events and host a baby/toddler group every term-time Friday.

How they support every child

SEND provision

When staff identify gaps or delays in children's development, they act swiftly to implement detailed individualised plans of support. Staff seek support from other professionals to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

Outdoor space

Children enjoy the freedom to explore indoors and the outdoors, which they access by a small slope. However, babies do not have consistent opportunities to benefit from the learning opportunities available outdoors.

Every memeber of staff are really frindly and welcoming. As a first time mum all these options, forms and the registration process can be confusing and overwhelming but Sam at Early years has really helped me through the steps and made the whole experience so much easier. The rooms look tidy and organised with each room being centred around a different thing (home corner/messy room/quiet room) . I love the use of the family app too so i can get little updates on what my child is up to My 3 year old left her first session in tears that she had to go
