About this day nursery

Early Years Nursery, established in 2002, operates across two locations in Melton Mowbray, including one within the grounds of Swallowdale Primary School. As an Ofsted-registered and Leicestershire County Council validated institution, the nursery is committed to delivering exceptional learning experiences.

Their philosophy centres on fostering independent, confident, and happy children through a stimulating play-based curriculum, both indoors and outdoors, in alignment with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The nursery prides itself on a highly qualified and enthusiastic team, featuring an owner who is an Early Years Graduate and EYP, a Nursery Lead with PGCE and QTS, and managers at each site who are Early Years Graduates or hold Early Years qualifications.

All staff members are thoroughly trained in vital areas such as Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, Food Hygiene, and Health and Safety. The curriculum is designed to be child-centred, focusing on individual interests to motivate learning and development, ultimately preparing children for school and lifelong learning.

What it's like

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

The managers use additional funding thoughtfully. For example, staff work one-to-one with children who need it. This gives those that need it instant help and support to enable them to make good progress.

Outdoor space

The nursery has a unique feature of a soft-play and ball pool zone. Children have fun when they access this area, demonstrating superb physical skills as they confidently climb, slide and jump.

EAL / language support

Children who speak English as an additional language make good progress. Staff provide targeted small-group activities to promote language skills for all children. For example, staff provide visual prompts, such as, 'singing spoons' to encourage participation.
