" The nursery emphasizes creating a secure and comfortable setting where children can thrive and develop positive relationships with both practitioners and peers. Their curriculum integrates adult and child-led play, focusing intensely on Communication and Language, as well as Expressive Arts and Design.
Children are encouraged to be collaborators, with activities promoting creativity, imagination, problem-solving, and self-expression through various artistic means like drawing, painting, music, and dance. The nursery utilizes natural furnishings and everyday objects to foster real-life interactions and accessibility.
They prioritize consistent staffing to build strong bonds and ensure continuity of care. The approach ensures children develop strong communication skills by exposing them to diverse sounds, words, and opportunities for verbal and non-verbal expression.
The staff are trained to create a safe, fun, and stimulating environment, documenting each child's learning journey through platforms like Tapestry to evaluate progress and tailor individual approaches to care and development.
Our ethos
Our ethos at Ellie’s little kingdom is to build a home away from home environment, to make our setting and the children’s experiences with us as nurturing as possible. An integral part of our early year’s curriculum is creating a homely environment for children in the formative years of their lives. It focuses on the development of positive relationships between children and teachers, as well as providing them with the necessary home features to support their learning and development. By providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment, we can ensure that children have the best possible start in life. Through this curriculum, we can also help to promote positive mental health and wellbeing by encouraging children to build meaningful relationships with those around them.

ELK is a truly wonderful, family-run nursery and was a clear winner for us from the start. There is such a warm, caring and loving atmosphere throughout, and it’s clear how much the staff genuinely care about each child. They build incredibly close relationships with the children, which really shows in how much my daughter loves her time there. She started at ELK when she was just 10 months old, and the settling-in process was outstanding. The staff took the time to really get to know her, gently encouraging her to join in with activities while learning her interests and needs. Communication is excellent — every day we’re given a detailed update about her food, sleep and activities, and the team always take the time to chat about how her day has been. We feel so confident and happy knowing our daughter is in such a nurturing, supportive environment.
Read on GoogleBoth of my children attend ELK and absolutely love it. The settling in process was individualised and they had the children at the forefront rather than what worked best for the nursery/their schedule which I've always appreciated! My children adore the staff, who regularly feature in our conversations at home, and it's clear how strong those relationships are. The team are all genuinely lovely - attentive, tuned in, and they truly know each child as an individual. ELK feels like a home away from home and has never had an impersonal feel. The themes and activities are so engaging, my children always come home with new learning, songs and ideas. The food is also great, with a menu that's regularly updated! We are very happy and would highly reccomend ELK
Read on GoogleOur little one has been attending ELK since Nov and we are so pleased with our nursery choice. Settling in went really well with all the support from the staff members. The whole baby room team have been amazing at caring for her and we highly recommend ELK to parents!
Read on GoogleMy son joined ELK at 10 months old and I was anxious to send him to nursery so little but the team were so amazing, kind, caring and patient and he settled in so well. The attention to detail in his day to day care is so amazing and he has the most fantastic time each and everyday. Thank you so much to all the team at ELK🫶🏼
Read on GoogleAfter reading horrific reviews about another local nursery, I felt compelled to share how happy we are with ELK. My daughter has been attending for about 18 months and loves it. Staff are extremely caring and kind and treat my little one like their own. She has so much fun, especially as the activities are always so varied and engaging. I’m so, SO glad we picked ELK and managed to get a space.
