The setting received a "Good" rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 20 February 2023. Children at First Place Nursery are happy and settle quickly into familiar routines, engaging in activities tailored to their interests.

The curriculum is inclusive and ambitious for all children, particularly those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The managers and staff have high expectations and collaborate with outside agencies to create targeted support plans for individual children, ensuring good progress.

Outdoor learning is encouraged, with children enjoying bicycles and re-enacting stories, which helps develop their physical skills. Staff promote good hygiene routines and children show independence, such as washing hands and tidying up.

Parents consistently report that their children feel safe and happy, and are pleased with the progress their children make, particularly in confidence. They also appreciate the daily verbal and written feedback from staff.

My daughter has been at first place nursery for approximately a year and a half and we are very happy with the excellent standard of care provided. My daughter looks forward to going to nursery and seeing her friends, and has benefited lots from being in that environment and learning new skills. They seem to get involved in a good variety of activities. The communication from the nursery is good, the outside space is really well managed and the staff all seem great. Highly recommended

We have worked with First Place Nursery in Radlett for a number of years now and our residents at Houndswood house care love the visits from the children. The children are always engaging and excited to show the residents what they have been up to and often do little performances. The team at the nursery are wonderful, friendly and kind, and you can tell they love working and caring for the children.

A lovely nursery. My son is very happy here and has really progressed socially and it’s lovely watching his confidence grow . The staff are very friendly and attentive and we often receive updates regarding our sons progress . They also use an excellent catering company that cater for Coeliacs and my little boy seems very happy with the meals and snacks he is given .

My son has been at First Place since age 2 and he loves it. All staff are lovely, very caring and they give comprehensive feedback about his development and activities by way of the Early Years Log app and other meetings. We feel he’s getting great care and attention and no doubt he is being well set up for school. Highly recommend. J

My son has been going to FP since his first birthday (he is now 20 months). All of his carers have been kind and wonderful with him. He really loves going into nursery. I would 100% recommend to anyone thinking about sending their child there.
