About this day nursery

First Years Pre School is a dedicated nursery in Harrow, providing exceptional day care and education for children aged 9 months to 5 years. Children aged 2-3 benefit from a bright, spacious area with a 1:4 staff-to-child ratio, fostering exploration and learning through play and group activities, with daily access to a large garden. For children aged 3-5, a dedicated pre-school space maintains a 1:8 staff-to-child ratio, focusing on child-initiated activities and group work to prepare them for primary school, including early literacy skills.

The nursery operates 51 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm, and accepts various funding options to support families.

Our ethos

SEND provision

Despite weaknesses in the implementation of the curriculum and in the quality of teaching, children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) generally receive appropriate support. Leaders use funding well and make timely referrals to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Staff incorporate other agencies' recommendations and advice into their plans to help children who require extra support make progress in relation to their starting points.

Outdoor space

Staff understand the importance to children's good health and well-being of plenty of energetic physical play. They use the outdoor space well to encourage children to run, climb and balance. Younger children enthusiastically use wheeled toys.

We are not satisfied with our experience at first year nursery . The staff were often rude, unhelpful, and did not provide proper care for our daughter. We lost trust in the nursery and have decided to withdraw our child.

The nursery turned out to be a hero for my family. A few weeks back my child wandered through my garden gate into the road. And we live just across the road from the nursery. If it wasn't for one of the nursery ladies, who happen to walk home and notice my child without supervision, recognise her and bring her to a place of safety, I do not know how this nightmare would turn out. I owe them so much as a mother. I never imagined it could happen to me, but here we go.I am forever grateful and thankful, because I have watched the nursery staff nurture the kids and provide them with a safe and caring environment. I have also been made aware that some parents believe the nursery lost my child, which is totally untrue. First-years-preschool - thank you so much.

With all honesty I am recommending the nursery as the staff is very carrying and well prepared. I am the parent of a very shy and sensitive child and they have done wonders, building My doughter’s confidence. I am forever grateful and can’t thank them enough for the patience and professionalism they have shown.

A fantastic preschool with lovely staff! My child is always happy and eager to go to preschool to see his teachers and friends! My boy has learnt so much since starting there, I would highly recommend other parents sign their children up at First Years.
