Children at Flying Gulls are happy and feel safe, exploring a well-resourced environment and settling quickly into activities. Staff plan a broad range of experiences, both indoors and outdoors, which help children to develop skills and knowledge, preparing them well for school.
The provision specifically supports children needing additional help with communication and language skills by using visual prompts, clear and simple language, and maintaining eye contact. The nursery values cultural backgrounds, and staff use key words from children's home languages to help build their self-worth.
Parents speak positively about Flying Gulls, feeling that staff know their children well and that children enjoy attending and make good progress in their learning. The provider has worked diligently to make improvements since the previous inspection, now meeting all safeguarding and welfare requirements.
Staff are currently focused on providing more opportunities for children to develop their hand strength and coordination, which are crucial for early writing skills.
