The owner and manager, Lucy, has been a part of Furzehill Childcare Centre for over 23 years, taking ownership in September 2021. The dedicated team of 23 staff members possesses a wealth of experience and expertise, with 18 qualified to Level 3 or higher.

The centre prides itself on delivering exceptional care and empathising with families as they embark on their nursery journey, treating each child as a unique individual and tailoring the transition to nursery life. Upon starting, each child is assigned a family worker who gathers crucial information to provide effective support.

The Deputy Manager and SENCO, Catherine Davis, ensures the smooth operation of the day nursery alongside team leaders Danni, Lauren, and Steph. Furzehill Childcare Centre focuses on children's holistic development, offering a wide array of resources and experiences, and planning a curriculum aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

How they support every child

SEND provision

The knowledgeable and passionate special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) knows the needs of the children well. The SENCo supports staff to ensure that strategies are put in place straight away, to ensure that children's gaps in development close quickly. The manager and SENCo work closely with parents and have good links with outside agencies who are invited into the setting to support children and staff. Funding is used effectively to purchase resources for children's individual needs, and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities make strong progress from their individual starting points.

Outdoor space

Staff support children to learn how to climb and balance safely. For instance, children create their own assault courses and enjoy using the climbing frame.

We’ve had such a wonderful experience with this nursery. They really go above and beyond by bringing people in from the community to teach the children new skills, which I think is fantastic. Since starting here, my daughter has come on in leaps and bounds — her confidence, learning, and happiness have all grown so much. We couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend this nursery to any parent.
