Gateway Brockhurst Avery is a purpose-built preschool catering to children aged between 2 and 5 years. Located within the grounds of Brockhurst Primary School, the setting offers two distinct rooms, "the Caterpillars" and "the Butterflies", designed to meet diverse needs and interests.

The nursery can accommodate up to 44 children at any given time and operates during term-time, providing various sessions between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm, alongside a breakfast club from 7:15 am and an after-school club until 5:30 pm. They emphasise a tailored education focused on individual needs, with a strong focus on the three prime areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage: communication and language, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional development.

The staff are highly trained and committed to fostering independence by involving children in daily routines and offering choices. The preschool values collaboration with parents, recognising them as essential partners in a child's early education journey.

They encourage family involvement through "stay and play" sessions and parent evenings to discuss children's progress.

What it's like

Children joyfully greet their friends and quickly get involved in activities set up by staff. They feel safe and comfortable due to staff who know them well. Staff have high expectations for children's behaviour, teaching them 'golden rules' like using 'kind hands', which helps children learn about rules and boundaries.
