Areas to develop
- 1Children are not always encouraged to wash their hands before eating so are not learning the importance of good hygiene through the daily routine.
- 2Arrangements for snack time do not always promote an awareness of healthy eating.
- 3Children have healthy drinks at snack and meal times but are not able to access drinking water throughout the day.
- 4Children are not always able to pour their own drinks or help at meal times.
- 5Children are able to use their own initiative during free play periods but not during structured activities when they all sit down together to do the same activity and are not able to make choices about what they want to do.
- 6The book corner is not attractive enough to develop children's sense of caring for books.
- 7There are not sufficient opportunities for children to write for a purpose while they play because writing materials are not readily accessible in all areas, for example in the role play corner.
- 8Some aspects of the environment do not encourage children to develop and extend their play or provide more able children with additional challenges.
- 9The self-selection area for craft is not sufficiently stocked and well-organised to make it attractive to children and they are not always encouraged to use the range of labelled equipment around the room.
- 10The information on how to make a complaint has not been updated in line with recent legislation and a complaints log is not in place.
- 11A different member of staff feeds and changes the babies, so their care is not always completely consistent.
- 12The registered person should promote children's health by encouraging them to learn about good hygiene practice through the daily routine.
- 13The registered person should ensure children have access to fresh drinking water throughout the day and that all food provided is nutritious to promote a healthy lifestyle.
- 14The registered person should provide children with more opportunities to make independent decisions regarding the equipment they wish to use, activities they wish to undertake and when to do so within the session.

How they support every child
SEND provision
The nursery currently supports a number of children with special educational needs. Children with special educational needs are supported extremely well and fully included in all aspects of the nursery. The nursery is proactive in seeking support for children who need it and through individual education plans monitors the progress of children carefully.
Outdoor space
All children share access to a secure enclosed outdoor play area. While the enclosed play area is temporarily out of use, they are taken for walks in the school grounds. They also enjoy sessions in the gym; and dance, music and movement in the school hall.
EAL / language support
The nursery currently supports children who speak English as an additional language. The report mentions that "Children communicate well" and "join in conversations at snack and circle times about their own experiences, encouraged by staff."

I`m a past student at Glebe (I was there for five years) And I loved every second of it. Everyone was very supportive and Glebe was like one big family, I'm now in high sets in my subjects. The way the school worked was extraordinary and Glebe is a very good choice of school. 2019-2023
