About this day nursery

Guilden Sutton Pre-School, established in 1985 as “The Marigold Playgroup,” is located in the Marigold Room within Guilden Sutton Village Hall. The preschool is a registered charity and a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, holding insurance through this organisation.

It is also registered with Ofsted and the Charity Commission. The preschool actively fosters strong relationships with Guilden Sutton Primary School, St John’s Church, and various community groups, aiming to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for families.

Emphasising a child-centred methodology, the preschool supports children’s growth, learning, and development through creative play. It is dedicated to providing a secure, inclusive, and nurturing setting where children gain confidence and essential skills, preparing them for their subsequent educational journeys.

They make independent choices and explore their interests, demonstrating excellent behaviour while playing with friends. The manager and staff have addressed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on children's personal, social and emotional well-being and communication and language skills, providing opportunities to support sharing and turn-taking.

Pricing & funding

Fees are charged at a flat hourly rate, with invoices issued on a half-termly basis. Additional charges are applied daily for late payments and per fifteen minutes for late collections. A voluntary daily contribution towards consumables is also requested.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported well. Staff are knowledgeable about identifying when children may need extra help in their learning and make appropriate referrals to agencies when needed. This helps all children, including children with SEND, to make good progress in their learning.

Outdoor space

The outdoor space offers opportunities for children to practise a wide range of physical and thinking skills. Children become deeply engaged in activities, such as using guttering to move water from one area to another, and staff support them to problem-solve and experiment with much joy and laughter. Children are very physical in their play and make good progress with their physical skills.

When we moved into Guilden Sutton in 2021, our daughter was attending a national chain nursery in Chester. She didn’t settle in the pre school room when she turned 3 and we found it to be very busy. Guilden Sutton Preschool was local and had a good reputation with links to the primary school. We had a show round with Charlotte and immediately had a fantastic feel about the place- it was friendly, warm and calming. We were unsure if term time only would work for us (both full time working parents), so our daughter started one day a week initially. She loved it- she would skip into Guilden Sutton preschool but would cry on the way to the nursery. After a couple of months of the dual setting approach we took the plunge and moved her permanently to Guilden Sutton pre school and seriously haven’t looked back. The team are incredible; so caring, so personal to each child and have a genuine passion for offering superior child care. Our daughter now attends five days a week being the happiest she’s ever been and we have made our work schedules fit. You won’t regret it!

Our daughter started Guilden Sutton Preschool in September last year and absolutely loves it. The staff were so welcoming and kind and she settled in really well from her first day. The staff provide a wide range of activities with the children based around term themes. We are always kept up to date with our daughters progress through her communication book, learning journal and chats with the staff after the end of the session. The preschool has a lovely atmosphere and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

All 3 of my children have attended Guilden Sutton Preschool and have absolutely loved it. The staff are incredible and the children love them. Honestly couldn’t image my kids being anywhere better.
