Inclusion & environment
Any gaps in development are identified and strategies are put in place to help close these. Leaders provide support for the whole family to ensure they get the help they need. Leaders work closely with external agencies and schools that children will be moving on to. They invite other professionals into the setting and share important information about children to ensure children get a positive start to their school life.
Staff support babies to stand to activities and push walkers around the garden to develop their physical skills ready for walking. The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this was having on children's learning.
Happy days Thornbury is amazing. I started sending my little one here when we moved to the area. I was nervous due to not many good reviews on google. However alot of other parents had recommended it to me and I’m so happy I viewed and sent my little one here. He absolutely loves it. All the staff are so friendly and caring and I feel my little one has the best time when here and they go above and beyond to make sure he was settled in. I would 100% recommend this nursery to any other parents and will be soon sending my next child here.
Read on GoogleHappy Days Nursery in Thornbury is absolutely outstanding – truly the best choice we could have made for our son! From the moment we walked through the doors, the warmth, care, and professionalism of the staff were immediately clear. Every single member of the team goes above and beyond to create a nurturing, fun, and safe environment where our son thrives every day. They not only support his learning and development but also make him feel genuinely loved and understood, which gives us total peace of mind. The level of attention, patience, and kindness they show is second to none – we honestly couldn’t ask for a better place or more wonderful people to look after our child. Happy Days Thornbury is a true gem!
Read on GoogleAbsolutely fantastic nursery, have had an amazing experience sending the youngest here. Everyone is so kind and helpful and he absolutely adores going to “school” in the morning. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nursery in the Thornbury area :)
Read on GoogleI have to say I read the reviews here and on other sites and was sceptical but I still went along to the open day to check it out. I was bowled over by the warm environment, the setting was clean, bright with natural light thanks to the huge windows and the staff were an absolute delight. They were not afraid to face into the problems of the past and discuss previous failings and what was being done to make sure this didn't happen again. The settling in days went fantastically, my little one was in his element, and they took the time to make I was ok (they know it's the parents that struggle the most with letting go those first few times). They really do care about each child hand overs are always genuinely informative. They have coped so well with everything my dare devil little one has thrown at them! He has been in now for a little over 9 months and the joy he has in the mornings going in is so reassuring to see. He has loved both of his key people and comes home happy and exhausted from all the engaging learning activities they do. In short there were definitely issues in the past but now I could not recommend this nursery more. Huge credit to the two Sammies, the room leaders, the reception staff and the whole team.
Read on GoogleIf you can help it, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE!! When we first started at Happy Days Thornbury in early 2020 the manager at the time was lovely and the staff were consistently providing great care, even prioritising our childcare through covid times as me and my partner were key-workers. In the last year or two standards have dropped massively and in the end we had no choice but to remove our children from this setting. We have lost count of the different managers the setting has had, you were lucky if the manager/reception staff would even raise their head to say hello in the morning. We were let down on day and asked not to bring in our children (one time I was already on my way to drop them off!), they later went on to give us two days notice of them shortening their days by 2 hours, yet their finance department had no clue of what days/hours the children were in, we had maybe 4 different invoices and 5 emails with different amounts to pay, just for one month! I’m sure they were just guessing amounts at this stage. During this time they asked parents to make other childcare provisions as they could not keep their staff or provide a safe environment for the children. Over our time in this setting, we became friendly with the contracted room staff, who were all fantastic and our children loved. Unfortunately those staff were treated so poorly by management they have nearly all left and gone to other settings in Thornbury. One evening I joined a queue of other angry parents desperate to find out what was happening, I relayed all my concerns and the senior member of staff I spoke to just couldn’t understand why no one wanted to work for them as they offered such amazing incentives in comparison to other nurseries in the area - yet no one wanted to work for them.. I think that says it all. I could go on and on but in a nutshell, AVOID!!
