Happycrew Childcare Ltd, established in 2022, operates from Margaret Wix Junior & Infant School in St Albans, offering childcare for children aged 0 to 4 years. The nursery is open Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, 50 weeks a year, closing for one week over Christmas.

The setting received a ‘Good’ rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 7th May 2025. Children are supported by nurturing and caring staff, which helps them to build strong bonds and settle in well.

The curriculum at Happycrew Childcare Ltd is ambitious and thoughtfully sequenced, guiding children's learning journeys effectively. Children show a positive attitude towards healthy lifestyles, enjoying activities like gymnastics and making healthy food choices.

Parents commend the setting, highlighting the staff's caring nature and effective communication, as well as the unique outdoor sleeping arrangements that have positively impacted their children's sleep. The nursery places a strong emphasis on outdoor learning; children spend most of their day outside in a space that reflects their interests.

Daily forest school sessions are a particular highlight, attended by all children regardless of the weather. The provider has ensured the outdoor area is accessible and safe, allowing children to confidently explore natural environments and uneven terrain.

Happycrew Childcare Ltd provides excellent support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The staff demonstrate commendable knowledge and work diligently to ensure all children make progress, collaborating with outside agencies and consistently utilising additional resources to support individual developmental targets.

Children are also given ample opportunities to develop independence from a young age, from feeding themselves to learning to put on their own shoes and coats, which prepares them well for school transitions.
