About this day nursery

Happytots is a "Good" rated pre-school in Rushden, established in 1992, offering a warm and secure environment for children aged 2 to 4 years. Open Monday to Friday, 9am until 3pm, during term-time, it provides a well-resourced space both indoors and out, encouraging children to explore and make their own play choices.

The curriculum is carefully designed to build on children's existing knowledge, ensuring that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, receive support tailored to their individual learning needs. Outside, children can develop their balance and coordination through obstacle courses, or engage their curiosity by searching for minibeasts in the garden.

Staff foster a positive attitude to learning through engaging conversations and activities, helping children to develop language and social skills, and promoting a sense of pride and accomplishment. The pre-school also supports children in understanding the importance of a healthy lifestyle, providing healthy snacks and involving them in activities like growing strawberries and learning about oral hygiene.

Independence is encouraged as children serve their own snacks, choose resources, and help with tidying. Communication and language development are key, with staff adapting their language to suit each child's stage and using visual aids for those who need additional support, including children who speak English as an additional language.

Mathematical concepts are woven into daily play, with staff introducing positional language and counting activities. Happytots focuses on nurturing happy and secure children in a cosy and calm setting.
