About this day nursery

Hart Common Pre-School, established in 2008, operates weekdays from 9am to 3pm during term-time only, catering to children aged 2 to 4 years. Rated "Good" by Ofsted at its latest inspection on 10 January 2023, the pre-school provides a welcoming and settled environment where children confidently engage with staff and routines.

The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to develop all seven areas of learning, using engaging themes to capture children's interest. Staff prioritise communication and language development through daily activities such as nursery rhymes, stories, and targeted small-group sessions.

Children are encouraged to explore the outdoor environment with free-flow access, enjoying activities like splashing in puddles while learning about the weather. This focus on outdoor learning extends to community exploration, with nature walks that help children understand the world around them.

The pre-school also strongly supports children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with leaders and staff communicating concerns early to provide targeted interventions. Parents appreciate the "excellent communication" from staff, who gather detailed information about children's likes and dislikes before they start to ensure a smooth transition.

Children are encouraged towards independence, from self-registration to choosing their own drinks and putting on aprons for painting.

My youngest loves this pre-school! He has come on so much! When my son started at 2, he hadn't been anywhere other than with me and family, he settled in really quickly and loves going. Even though he has his Keyworker Rachel (who's been amazing!) June, Lyndsey and Emma all know him just as well! These ladies are brilliant! I'll be sad to see him leave, but I know my son has come on so much, because of his time at HCPS😄🥰

I can honestly say that this is an amazing place for children to attend. The staff are so friendly and are great with the children. It is a fantastic learning environment. My son is about to leave to go on to school and he's more than ready for this due to how much he has learnt here. Me and my wife have seen him grow up and advance over the years that he has been at hart common pre school. We have a 2nd son and will definitely be sending him here as well. Update to this review. We sent our 2nd son here and I can only say good things again. He's had an amazing time whilst he's been at this nursery and has developed so quickly in confidence and speech amongst other things. This nursery is amazing and all the staff are. He will truly miss this place as he has made so many wonders friend and memories.
