Heaton Nursery, established in 1970, is a private day nursery and out-of-school club located just 10 minutes from Newcastle City Centre. It caters to children from birth up to 11 years old.

The nursery aims to provide high-quality, flexible, and affordable childcare within a safe and happy environment, preparing children for primary school. Heaton Nursery is part of a group of five privately owned childcare provisions.

They operate Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, for 51 weeks a year, closing for approximately one week over Christmas and on bank holidays. The nursery implements the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, focusing on active learning, personal initiative, and problem-solving, with an emphasis on children's strengths to boost confidence.

They also offer flexible services for parents with varying shift patterns, including breakfast and after-school clubs, and a wrap-around service for school nurseries. The facility ensures safety and security with monitored access, identity and DBS checks for staff, and ongoing training in safeguarding and first aid.

What it's like

Children develop a range of skills and knowledge through good quality teaching and a stimulating environment. Babies happily explore their physical skills and two-year-olds explore different craft activities and develop early writing skills. Pre-school children love to listen to stories and join in with discussions. There is a nice calm atmosphere and children behave well, feeling safe and happy.

This policy outlines our current fees and payment arrangements. All Government Funded Childcare for children aged 9 months to 5 years and payments through Tax-Free Childcare are accepted. For Government Funded Childcare: Working Parents eligible for 30 hours must apply via Best Start in Life before the deadline for the term their child reaches the eligible age and must revalidate the code every 3 months. All 3- and 4-year-old children receive 15 hours Government Funded Childcare no matter of their families’ circumstances. Some 2-year-olds whose families who are in receipt of additional support may also be entitled to 15 hours but would need eligibility to be confirmed by a member of the team.
