About this day nursery

Helping Hands Childcare, established in 2008 as a childminding service, has significantly expanded its operations. In January 2023, the setting transitioned to a registered day care nursery for children aged 0-5 in Silksworth, offering both funded and non-funded sessions with a minimum three-day booking policy.

Further expansion occurred in October 2024 with the opening of a larger second site in Pennywell. The nursery operates 50 weeks a year, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday, except for Fridays when it closes at 5:30 pm.

All payments for day care include breakfast, meals, and snacks. Helping Hands also provides an Out of School and Holiday Club for children aged 5 and above, catering to various schools in the Sunderland South area.

The club offers morning care with breakfast and school drop-offs, as well as after-school care during term time. During school holidays, daily care is available from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, including all meals and snacks, with the exception of a two-week closure over Christmas.

The setting emphasises a dedicated team with diverse experience and qualifications to support children's development. The owners and founders are Emma and Yilmaz Perek.
