Hunton & Linton Pre-school, established in 1985, is a welcoming and well-run setting in Maidstone for children aged 2-4 years, operating during term-time. The latest Ofsted inspection, on 11th September 2024, rated the pre-school as 'Good' in all areas, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.
Children arrive happy and settle quickly into the inviting environment. Staff know the children well and have developed a curriculum that builds on their interests and individual learning needs.
The pre-school provides a rich variety of learning experiences, from engaging in personal hygiene routines to developing physical skills such as balancing, crawling, pedalling, and throwing. Children demonstrate exceptionally good behaviour, showing respect for each other and staff.
There is a strong focus on fostering a love of reading through independent book selection and enthusiastic story times, and early mathematical skills are developed through games. The setting also excels in promoting good communication and language skills through engaging activities and conversations.
All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make good progress due to staff considering their age, stage of development, and preferred learning styles, including outdoor learning opportunities. Staff also effectively support children in developing their independence and resilience.

Hunton and Linton Pre-school registered in 1985. It operates from the village hall in Hunton, Kent. The pre-school is open each weekday during term time only. Sessions run from 9am to 2.45pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 1.15pm on Friday. The pre-school is in receipt of funding for the provision of free early education for children aged two, three and four years. The pre-school employs eight members of staff, of whom seven work directly with the children. Five staff hold a qualification at level 3.
