Jack in the Box Montessori School, established in 2005 and located in Kelmscott Community Hall on Ashchurch Grove, W12, offers a nurturing and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to reach their full potential and develop essential life skills. Conveniently situated for families in Hammersmith, Shepherd's Bush, Acton, and Chiswick, the school embraces the Montessori teaching philosophy, which recognises children's innate desire to learn and their unique receptiveness during early childhood.
The curriculum seamlessly integrates the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework with Montessori methods, tailoring activities to individual children to stimulate their learning and development. The school provides a rich and varied learning experience, with a focus on communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional growth, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design.
Children engage in a wide range of activities, both individually and in groups, utilising specific Montessori materials. Visiting teachers conduct weekly music and drama classes, and daily activities include cooking and creative art.
The school actively encourages parental involvement, particularly in reading with the children, and plans themed projects throughout the term while also adapting to children's emerging interests to further their curiosity and learning.

Parents praise the excellent levels of care and attention their children receive.
Inclusion & environment
Children are extremely well supported, no matter what their starting points. Children who speak English as an additional language benefit from targeted support to ensure that they make excellent progress in their development of English. Parents complete translation sheets so staff know and can pronounce key words. Staff speak a variety of languages, and this ensures that families feel welcomed and home languages are valued.
Children are extremely physically active. They go for regular walks in the park and take part in weekly yoga lessons and movement sessions. Children run, jump, balance and climb in the garden. This helps towards keeping children healthy.
Wonderful nursery. The calmest and happiest of all we visited before our child joined. You can tell the teachers really care about and nourish every child. We are so grateful to the JITB team. Thank you.
Read on GoogleWe send both our children to JITB currently, with our daughter having been there for two years. The nursery very much follows a school timetable - so not good for wrap-around care - but in terms of the meat and drink of what you expect it's pretty much perfect. The teachers are incredibly thoughtful and caring and in a very gentle and encouraging way ensure that they bring the children along to be engaged, kind, creative and ready for primary school.
Read on GoogleMy son Luka went to JITB from the age of 3. I can't express with words the gratitude for what the Team has done for him. Luka has SEND and his needs were fully met. He has the most happy memories of caring support, fun, friends. He was set up with great routines, communication skills models, he was given challenges to develop and transition to School was easy. I can't recommend this Nursery enough as a highly professional and nurturing place.
Read on GoogleOur boys started at JITB at 2 year old. They have grown and improved so so much. This place is so nurturing and so loving. The boys love going to nursery everyday. The communication between the teachers and the parents are amazing as well. We couldn’t be happier with Jack in the box. Thank you!
