About this day nursery

Johnson Garden Day Nursery, established in 1959, is situated in Johnson Garden Park, within a purpose-built facility that was formerly an infants school. The nursery aims to create a warm, happy, and fun environment where children can advance at their own speed, supported by encouragement and guidance from qualified staff.

The curriculum is designed to foster confidence and inquisitive minds, preparing children for school with the ability to manage new situations and complete tasks independently. The nursery embraces a diverse and inclusive approach, observing cultural celebrations that mirror the backgrounds of its attendees and the local community.

Operating year-round, except for bank holidays and the Christmas to New Year week, Johnson Garden Day Nursery provides a supportive setting for children until they transition to school. The nursery also maintains strict health policies to safeguard all children, prohibiting attendance from those with infectious diseases.

Outdoor space

Children and babies love the outdoors, and staff provide many opportunities for them to explore the natural world around them. Babies enjoy watching passers-by in the park, young children use magnifying glasses to look at insects, and older children grow tomatoes and create with natural materials in the mud kitchen garden.

Outstanding and amazing nursery nestled away in the gorgeous setting of a little woodland near the park. Both of my children have started their learning journey there with the last just finishing recently. Absolutely would not have considered anywhere else but here. The staff are so very experienced and talented, considerate and thoughtful. Highly trained and dedicated people work here and it is testament as you can see by the length of service the large majority of them have there. I have only praise for them and the incredible work they do to safeguard and teach and learn through play, care for and expand the tiny minds of the little people that cross their threshold. My eldest is about to enter a grammar school and we have just been placed at the highest ranking school in the town for my youngest. Testament not only to them but to their educational start in life.
