30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. The day nursery cares for children aged between 0 and 4 years, providing an outstanding curriculum both indoors and outdoors, as recognised in its latest Ofsted inspection on 11th October 2021, where it achieved an "Outstanding" overall rating.

Children attending Kids 1st - Wynyard thrive, making excellent progress across all areas of their learning. Staff maintain exceptionally high expectations for every child, creating a nurturing and stimulating environment.

The day nursery excels in supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), working closely with parents and other professionals to meet individual targets. Outdoor learning is a significant strength, with children having free access to outdoor areas throughout the day.

Activities are thoughtfully designed; for example, young children enthusiastically participate in a "bear hunt" in the garden, repeating key phrases from the story. The dedicated team of 41 childcare staff, with 32 holding level 3 or above qualifications, ensure that activities are adapted to include every child, fostering independence and advanced social skills.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are exceptionally well supported. Staff have very high expectations for them and work towards individual targets in partnership with a wide range of other professionals and parents. Staff adapt activities to ensure every child is included.

Outdoor space

Staff provide an outstanding curriculum in the indoor and outdoor environment. Children freely access the outdoor areas for the entire day. Young children race to the door to join in the 'bear hunt' and repeat key phrases from the story as they search the garden.

The people in the nursery are incredible, they genuinely care for the children and they are focused on children's development, learning and experiences. This comes from the top in Megan and Charlotte and it flows through all of the staff, I have had a similarly positive experience from 11 months to 4 as my daughter has grown and transitioned through each room. She has emerged a happy, sociable and confident little person and she's well prepared for school. I can't thank the team enough for the care and effort they pour into the activities and the food and the environment. We have loved being part of the kids 1st family and we'll really miss the people who make it such a wonderful place to be.

I called the national / central team, call centre to arrange a visit and called back by the same number on the morning to say the visit was cancelled due to sickness. During that phone call it was rescheduled for the following week. When we arrived the staff were not expecting us saying the visit was booked in for the afternoon. The central team had told me there was spaces available immediately on Mondays and Fridays. At the nursery we were initially told there were no spaces available until next summer. When I queried this, suddenly there was availability for the Monday and Friday. I was then told there was no scope for the option to have my daughter attend during term time only - again, the total opposite to what was said on the phone. The staff there were unable to help me get a cost calculated for the nursery. I was told the lady I needed to speak to would be at work the following day. I left our phone number and was promised a phone call either the following day or day after - we are yet to receive this phone call. I received a voicemail the day after from the national / central team asking if I’d like to reschedule a visit as we had not been able to attend…. It really didn’t create the good impression that we were hoping for.

The staff are thorough in their care for our daughter and they absolutely love her as well which is great. They give constant updates about how she is doing during the day and they also ensure that she is achieving all her developmental milestones. The nursery is very tidy and a great place for a child to truly thrive. Our daughter enjoys being there and that speaks a lot about the authenticity of the place.

My 2 year old daughter absolutely loves this nursery!! She cant wait to go on a morning and never stops talking about it when shes at home. Staff are lovely, caring and so helpful, we felt so comfortable when we first visited. Keep up the good work guys!!
